I am assuming the relationship between the invoice pricing and MSRP are not linear between trims. But just for shits and giggles, the invoice for model #7544 is $31,249 with the MSRP at $33,730. That would yield a 0.926 ratio. Applying that ratio to model #7545 yields an invoice of $29,739. Seeing as I may not have any invoice figure before I go and place my order next Monday, this could at least help me get a price I am happy with.

I looked on Edmunds at the 2015 pricing for an equivalent Tacoma and the ratio was 0.931. So pretty close for those who are trying to get an idea of invoice pricing for each model.

ok so here is the real question. What is the dealer's true cost? I think that "invoice" price is all BS and used to let consumers THINK they are getting a deal that is close to cost.

You are the only other person I have seen writing this. I believe this to be true. There is no way a dealer makes 2200 dollars when selling at MSRP. There would be no Toyota dealerships left if this were true. Even with 2% holdback it won't work. I think the invoice might be the base invoice price. Every tier they sell into might drop their buy price below that base invoice price.

I think the 2% holdback should be added to the list. BTW this list is great. It will provide some nice starting points for folks dealing with the dealerships. Keep in mind dealerships get advertising credits and such. They get money in a number of ways.

    Um...it's a Prius. No mods.
    Two things.

    1) Your list shows a DC Sport with MT. I didn't think this was available based on this (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/all-links-to-reviews-specs-and-videos-for-2016-tacoma.387342/) Can anyone confirm? I would much prefer the Sport, but want the MT. Need DC, AC not an option with the kids.

    2) most dealers don't make their money directly on price above invoice on new car deals. I wouldn't be surprised if there was only $2200-$2500 in each new car on the lot. Holdback is one thing but if they sell enough volume they also get tiered payouts from corporate each month for new cars sold. They also make a killing in the finance office but used cars are a significant source of income on the retail side too. Then there's service but that's a whole different game...

Does anyone know what the premium tech packages contain? I am guessing the difference between the jbl/ non-jbl is higher end speakers... but what is the actual gear they give you aside from speakers?

    You get
    1. Upgraded to JBL sound system
    2. Blind spot alarms
    3. Rear sensors with color matched rear bumper instead of chrome
    4. Moonroof
    5. I'm sure I'm leaving something out..

Moonroof is reason I didn't get it..

my model list is based on the official press release, so I am going to be biased to the official statement than a thread on the forums.

also to add, holdback is not going to be the same in each region. my dealer is saying $916/917 for holdback, $216 for xxx, and another $$$ for something I didn't quite see what it was on the screen.

also invoice pricing was slightly higher than what is on my list for packages/options for my region. after invoice and minus holdback, xxx and xxx, final price was 358xx, then they add $2000 for profit. so my price was 378xx before everything on a vehicle that MSRP 40xxx.

this dealer makes money by volume from hitting different tiers of vehicle's sold. sales people make money by volume also, $250 per vehicle sold, then a bonus when 11 or 15 sold each month, cant remember.

this model works for the dealer and customers are happier since sale's people are making a flat $250 a vehicle instead of gouging as much from each sale. the big money is made as a sales person when you hit the number sold each month.

that standard pricing across the board for all vehicles makes it easier all around, this is the same format that lexus is testing on a select few dealers that was announced a while ago, but my dealer has been doing this for a few years now. needless to say, he makes more money now that before and lot more repeat sales, me included (the Tacoma will be our 5th Toyota from them in like 2yrs (used corolla, then new camry, rav4, 4runner, Tacoma). I just order a vehicle, they tell me the price and that's it. I either like it or walk. no back and forth banter and less stress.

I like it and we are both happy, they make some money to pay the bills and I get a vehicle at a decent price.

That's right, because I am a THINKER and an INNOVATOR ! Look out for more things from me that nobody else has said before. Like asking whether the all season floor mats are sterile enough to deliver a baby on in the back seat....

It appears there's not an msrp for TRD Offroad Access cab V6 4WD with a M/T. The brochure lists the M/T as an option the TRD OR. Maybe it's just not a popular option?
    Thanks..
