Thanks, there are some extras I'll have to toss in when I get the chance. I've probably paid off my Snap-on dealers house in the past year

Hell, you pay for a house when you buy a 7 piece screwdriver set from 'em.....:0

Years ago, I had a job where they made us an offer to pay 50% of whatever tools we bought after we'd worked there a year. The owners son was a real prick. The owner was an even bigger prick. His wife, the bookkeeper was the reason why both of them were pricks. I decided I was not staying any longer than it took to find another job. I'd been there about 13 months when I sold a car I had for $4400. I called the Snap On man and said "Help me spend $8800". He was more'n happy to oblidge! That was 1984. Rick Mears had just won the Indy 500 with Snap On sponsorship on the car. So they had this VERY cool limited edition Rick Mears tool box. I stuffed it with sockets, combination wrenches, flair wrenches, screwdrivers, air tools, etc.....You could still equip a shop for $8800 back then. I got the ultimate set of Snap On tools......walked into the office and submitted my bill. They paid reluctantly...... I found a better job and quit 4 days later and took my tools with me.

I understand they rescinded the "50% offer" the very next day.

Since then, I've added more Snap On stuff to the collection. They're a bit over priced but damn fine tools. And a good investment if you plan on working on your own stuff.

I should have taken advantage of the 50% discount when I was in tech school years ago. I didn't thought and now have to pay full price...unless I use my yearly tool allowance, which I did with this set :)

Looks good. If you don't mind my asking. To run the 285-75-16s do you have to use spacers. Or is your wheel a different offset

Oh well....The waffling is over. Just commited to my tires. The shop I do most of my business with gave me great prices on Duratracs in 265/75/r16, and 285/75/r16's, on Goodrich KO2's, same sizes, and Cooper/Mastercraft in the same sizes. I'm raised to the point where I can work with the 285's. I've got Bora wheel spacers, 1", on the way. All I needed to do was decide on the tires....

GoodYear DuraTrac's, 265/75/r16's. Why fight rubs, why take a sawzall to the cab mount, why make the gas mileage any worse than it has to be????? All for barely a 1/2" more ground clearance? I like the way the truck rides. I like way too many things about the way it IS. I went with load range C tires to save some unsprung weight. Hoping that helps gas/ride/brakes/etc. Again, this truck won't see that much hard core off roading.

Who knows....Maybe I'll stumble on to a deal on another set of rims sometime and fit up a set of true mud tires in a 285. The Bora spacers will go on next week when they get here to give the Taco a wider stance. With the 265's I can go ahead and do the tires so I can go hit the trails Saturday!

Tires go on Friday @ 2PM. Paying just over $825 mounted, balanced and a road hazzard warranty. Gonna get a few pics with the current 265/75/r16 Geolanders, then pics with the Duratracs. Got the Geo's sold for $200 (They have 11,000 miles on 'em)

I plastiderp'd the chrome badges and emblem on the grill, on my brand new '15 MGM Sport. Which doesn't seem like a big move, but imagine the look on my wife's face when she comes into the garage and I have the truck all taped up, and I'm spray painting a 4 day old truck

I've been taking full advantage of their student discount program. Just dropped another grand today actually on tools. Trying to get as complete of set of tools while I don't have much in the way of bills and can get up to 50% off.

Tools, ESPECIALLY good tools are a sound, solid investment. Learning to use them is just as important as having them. I wish I'd have kept track over the years of all the "do it yourself" repairs I've done, and how much having tools has enabled me to recoup from the initial investment. Learning to work on vehicles gives a person a better understanding of how that vehicle works....or how it DOESN'T work.....Not to mention, it can be rather enjoyable, even theraputic to work on your won truck.

    Got my girlfriend some flowers....

Going to make an appointment to figure out driveline vibration between 35-45mph. Happens on acceleration, deceleration and while coasting. Can reproduce 90% of the time. Now lets hope Toyota does not tell me it's "normal".
