Hello all! Need some assistance. My wife was T-boned in the taco today. Is there anywhere besides a Toyota body shop, you guys would recommend? I'm not sure if there's damage to the frame or not, but the cab and the bed are absolutely shifted over to the passenger side. On a positive note, my 8 year old son sitting on the drivers side in the back was not injured at all, neither was the wife.

This is what the other car looks like, my wife was spun over 90 degrees. The other driver ran a red light, she was on the gas as her front air bag did not deploy...

Dang. Very happy to see your family is ok after that. If it were me I would go to a Toyota dealer because I would want Toyota parts to replace the damage. However that doesn't always guarantee they will use oem parts. Your best bet is to keep as good of an open line of communication with whatever shop you use to replace and repair to ensure it gets done properly. Demand that they use oem parts ( assuming your insurance will pay for it). Good luck to you

Fantastic advice about OEM parts, thanks for that! Thankfully, the person who hit the wife has our same insurance company, so they will be on the hook for the bill... Anyone had luck with Priority Toyota? They're the closest so I plan on starting with them.

So far, I've had nothing but great service from First Team in Chesapeake (near Portsmouth). Can't say I've heard much about Priority.

That's where I got mine, couldn't be happier! But convenience is key, First Team is 2 minutes away so they were the first dealership I went to. Wouldn't hurt to check them out if you're willing to make the drive.
Also, very glad your family is alright - looks like quite an impact.

Glad your wife and son are OK. I bought my truck at Charles Barker in Virginia Beach and have no complaints about their service so far. I believe they have their own body shop, but thankfully I've never used it. Your insurance company may require you to choose from certain shops though. You may want to check on that.

Gas pedal position has nothing to do with airbag deployment. Rate of deceleration is the only aspect. Because the truck spun, and pushed the nose of the car down, the computer decided the rate of deceleration was insufficient.

Note: the only exception to this rule are roll sensing side curtain airbags, those are dependent on vehicle angle.

I'm glad the truck did its job. I'm glad your family is safe. Your investment is not. I have never seen any insurance company offer to reimburse you for accelerated depreciation, you have to ask for it. Rule of thumb is a major crash kills 20-25% of the value. If it's repaired, you need to be reimbursed for that loss. Be prepared for an uphill battle, and don't sign off on a damn thing till its done.

based off your pictures, there wont be any aftermarket parts available anyways. your looking at an OEM bedside, flare, and rear door at the minimum. Also taking it to a Toyota dealerships body shop does not have anything to do with ensuring OEM parts. the main factor is what insurance company is covering the repairs. Do your research on body shops local in your area

Got my bug/rock deflector on and decided I might as well fix what Auto Bell messed up and gave her a wash and wax. I think there was some tar on the scrubbers because there were little specks everywhere!

Nothing too crazy. Rock sliders, back seat platform for my dog, and just small cosmetic things.
I have a set of FJ wheels waiting for new tires though! Pretty pumped for that day to come.
