all it means is they were scared by all the hype about the acceleration issues at the time. there nothing wrong with it at all.

turns out 90% of the acceleration issues were the floor mats getting stuck on the pedals, the other 10% were software glitch in the computer so they redid all the computers just to be sure. thats why there weren't forced to recall all the cars. relax (impossible for you I know ) but they couldn't sell it if there was ANY chance of that problem not being solved.

Alright, alright, got it smarty pants!! :smack: Don't push your luck Keakar!!

We checked out the Corolla that looked like it had a dent in the bumper.

Turns out it didn't have a dent.

Instead it had a dead battery. How did we know this? The salesman was scrambling out to the car to jump it as we pulled in the parking lot. Even though I told him on the phone this morning that we'd come by this afternoon. Wow. That guy needs to work on his game! We shoulda just left on the spot when we saw that, but we decided to drive it anyway since we were already there. The car was filthy inside!! This was a dealer!! Granted, a Hyundai dealer, but still. It'd been there for a month according to Carfax, and yet they couldn't clean it and replace the friggin battery?????? Really? Then we popped the hood, and it looked like something had exploded on the underside of it!! The guy was rude, the car was gross, just a bad impression all around. We left there pretty fast.

Talked to the good dealer again about the other Corolla. He said the reprogram of the computer was probably something to help the car pass DEQ (????) rather than the unintended acceleration thing. Seemed like he wasn't totally confident in what he was saying, but at least he tried to answer the question. Anyway, we are waiting to hear from him as to when the car will be ready to show. We like that dealer a lot and the car sounds good on paper, so it's still our top choice, assuming the computer reprogram is nothing goofy. But that's the cool thing - it was done at that dealer, so I asked if we could see the records from that visit and he said yep.

    Happy Thursday TW!!!

Seriously. We are wondering if it's a "bait" car to get people in there, then they play games and try to sell you some crapbox. But that doesn't make sense either, because the guy wasn't horribly pushy about trying to get us to look at other stuff. He tried a little, but we've dealt with way more aggressive/slimy dudes pushing way harder than that guy was. Just doesn't make sense!!! I'm getting really tired of trying to figure out the games these folks play.

For real. Unbelievable!! Sometimes I feel bad for the salesman and think, wow, what a horrible job that would be, but then we are told that they can't find the key, they won't actually sell you the car for the posted price, they didn't have time to jump it before you arrived , then they start pushing crap on you that you DO NOT want, etc etc etc............and then I stop feeling bad for them pretty fast.

yes but its a plastic shell over the bumper, its just a pretty bumper cover, so you can just slide your hand up in there (if there is room) and push it back out without even taking the bumper off. that one looks like the paint was scratched off too and maybe pinched in a spot or two were it was pressed against the solid bumper under it so my guess is they simply replaced or repaired and repainted the bumper shell so they can sell it faster without 100 questions from shoppers like you. they snap in place and would take less then an hour to replace if they had another one in that color. the key is to look under at the "real" metal bumper under it to see if its bent but I don't think it will be, that looks like a parking lot fender bender. look real close at the areas you see black and you should be able to tell if it was bent back in shape and repainted or if the bumper cover was replaced, if asked we both know they wont tell you you truth either way. my guess is they bent it back in shape like a rubber made trash can and then repainted it
