My dealer has committed to OTD for invoice + tax. Tax is different from one location to the next and so not something we can really compare. If they try to tack on fees they will get the riot act read to them.

Waiting is one strategy but if you want a '16 you can clearly get it for well under MSRP now and not next year you just need to be willing to work the phone and email. And maybe drive a bit. Some places the dealers are going to balk and say only MSRP. Seems like from what I have seen here for example in Baltimore they are doing that across the board and smart buyers are saying screw it and spending the 90 minutes in a car to go to Northern VA or maybe the I270 corridor in MD.

Keep working the phones and the internet. Only deal with internet sales or fleet sales people, screw the floor guys they will whine about feeding their family. You'll never hear that kind of crap from an internet or fleet sales person. I keep saying it, you can negotiate them down and you can do it now. You don't need to be a dick to do it and you don't need super secret negotiating skills or special sauce just tell them what you want to pay and that you are shopping the deal far and wide - it is pretty easy to get a pretty solid invoice estimate on the various threads for your model at this point. Negotiate from there not from MSRP - don't even talk MSRP to dealers.

Put a deposit on a TRD Sport 2WD with Premium and Tech w/ JBL, Towing,

MSRP $35385 Paying $33216 plus TAX TTL
Deal is $499 Over Invoice including Doc Fee

    Invoice $28502.25
    FPAT $2701
    Towing $579
    Delivery $935
    $32736.25
    Doc fee+ $299
    $ over Invoice $181
    $33216 Plus TAX/Title $355

FP package costs as much a 4x4 addition. But I really don't need a 4x4 for anything. Don't need the extra maintenance, insurance. I will never use 4x4 hi or Lo. Rather have tech and JBL

Truck is built but going to a different dealer. My dealer is trying to get it rerouted without the Tonneau Cover here and delete all port add ons.

Committed Deal with Buyers order signed by Dealership with a deposit.

FWIW since its a similar truck and access cabs are in the minority I am at $33855 for TRD OR AC with tow, tonneau cover and, all weather mats. This is all dealer fees etc... but not including tax and registration. I consider this to be good price that I am satisfied with though I am sure its not the best price possible, its probably pretty close, for now. MSRP would be with dealer fees would be about $35810. No trade, paying cash. I have another offer from a different dealer for $33750 for the same truck including fees but the taxes are about 2.5% higher so it ends up being quite a bit more expensive.

Thanks for the good comparable information swimmer. I got the build sheet this afternoon and it has carpet floor mats w/ Door sill which i actually didn't want on my previous offer, but this one they went lower and left them in, so I'm not going to argue.

Official sheet MSRP for me is ($32,950 + $650 tow + $209 carpet mats & sill = $33,809, and I'm getting the $900 delivery fee included in the $33,500 quote but still have a $150 admin fee). It looks like I'm getting nearly the same deal as you and I was thinking it wasn't to bad but not great. It would be nice to get it lower, but so far this is the dealer that has given me the best deal in the state-wide area so I don't think at this time I'll do much better, and I need the truck mid-October-ish.

Now if I could get Kansas to stop raising our sales tax to NYC+ levels I could save some more. 8.5% was the 2nd lowest in the state, the lowest was 7.5% but the saleman was the most unprofessional usless individual so after several tries to explain to him what I was looking for and how I communicate (by E-mail), I gave up after getting 2-3 calls a day during meetings and my text messages flooded I didn't feel the need to give them business.

This is the spec sheet I got. It's my first Tacoma, so I am not to familiar if this is a good deal or not. It has an arrival date of the 15th according to the dealer. Also the price I was quoted OTD $33,711.85

Taxes are 6.25% then the doc fee is $125.00, and registration is $80.60

Well, it looks like they forgot to charge you the dumb $900 delivery fee. So that's $1000 that you've saved. But I would go further and ask for the total to be 30k flat + tax + two fees you added.
    That total would be $32,155.
    Edit: that would be OTD.

funny how GST has different option codes than Toyota. predator tube steps are R6 but for the GST, its R4.

same thing with the SN code.

The Delivery charge is included in that price that the salesperson gave me. Thanks for the tip. I am going to push for the 30K + tax + and the two fees

tpak - long time lurker first time poster here; pretty sure I'll be ordering a '16 DCSB OR. Would you please send me your Denver sales person's contact info? Much appreciated!

On a related note to anyone who might know - are the headlights on the '16 DC OR HIDs as opposed to halogens? I can't find that specific info in any of the specs.

What do you guys think of buying a 2016 model 7148 for 3.75% off of MSRP? Is this a fair price considering they are brand new and will command MSRP sales prices?

Personally I would consider anything under MSRP a decent deal right now.

It depends on what dealers will sell for. I refused to pay MSRP and got a deal at $499 over Invoice plus tax ttl.
I had a deal at invoice but i wanted my local dealer to sell me the truck so I Stepped up. There is a dealer in SC offering trucks below invoice. Small dealer though. The high population high income areas like Blue States will pay more than us poor red states.

I checked three different states. I got offers on 2016 Taco DC for invoice price + $500 + Doc fees from three of them.
Ended up ordering from local. You guys may want to check out Molle Toyota in KC, sales guy was Paul, and Classic Toyota in IL

I think you negotiate from invoice less holdback up not MSRP down. On this new model it seems we are able to get invoice up at the moment pretty widely if you compete them against each other and work the dealers internet or fleet sales people. If you can wait a bit and they start having them on the lots then you'll easily be able to find invoice less hioldback somewhere. Pretty sure my dealer usually does that but they are on invoice + tax for the '16 until they have inventory. That's fair of them and they are up front about it at the moment. I'd wait but wrecked my last truck. If you want or need one now you can get invoice - plenty of evidence in this thread alone that it is not that difficult in most places. Invoice prices are coming in around roughly 6% under MSRP depending on options Margins on some option are like 30+% as opposed to packages which are a lot less. See my little analysis here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...the-dealer-38-800.388856/page-4#post-10715684

So OK deal but I'd stay on the phone some more.
