Is this gap something to worry about or is that normal? Its a glock 26 w/ a round chambered.

Did you ride the slide at all? Can you push the slide forward at all?

I know my old XDs you pretty much couldn't be gentle when racking the slide, otherwise it wouldn't go forward all the way.

Was that round stripped off the magazine, or did you drop it in the chamber and release the slide?

I'm wondering if the extractor is over or under the case rim.

I inserted the magazine then racked the slide all the way back and released it.

Going CCW shopping with my sis tomorrow, gonna go to a shop with a range so she can handle AND shoot several different firearms.
Looking for 9MM under $550 or so, already going to look at glocks and S&W's but any others in particular? Particularly similar in size or slightly smaller than the G19?

I know the Springfield XD's had issues for a little while, did those get fixed?

Glock 26 is 'one size' smaller than the 19, can be had for around that price. I bought mine and my 19 used.

Kahr makes a good single stack 9, similar to something like the G43 and Shield.

Also look at FNS-9c, same size as a M&P9c

I'd reccomend trying out these: Glock 26, 43, and S&W Shield.

Looks alright honestly. The picture makes it look like the barrel hood might have a little extra removed on the side.

You could send the pics to Glock, if they come back saying no problemo you have a little insurance, just stay away from reloads so they can't blame the kaboom on them lol.

Went to 2 gun shops, first one we looked at a G26 (didn't like it, to wide at grip), PK380 (liked it), XD compact (didn't really care for it), M&P shield (liked it, doesn't like the lack of lack of grooves for fingers), g43 (to short a grip) and bodyguard 380 (to small).

The 2nd gun shop we looked at a P320 carry (liked it, little bit wide but she said she could get used to it), M&P compact (to wide) and the Walther pps (didn't feel right).

So far the shield is in 1st place, p320 is in 2nd place.

Going to look at an XD-s tomorrow.

sounds like she wants a singlestack.

Have her look at Ruger LC9s/pro (pro doesn't have the 86 safetys that regular rugers have) as well as the Kahrs (they are all pretty much the same, just want to decide if its a 6, 7, or 8 round mag.

Maybe even a used Sig P938 or P239

    Yep.
I'll try to find some locally, she's still researching/looking at this point.
