I know what you mean, its tedious. Feels good after though, even if a couple times down my road itll be a dusty critter again. I spent a good while working out stripes. I always end up in tight spots...

Did you have to reinforce the shell at all to support the weight of the tent or is it good to go as-is? I didn't see anything in the photos but I was under the assumption fiberglass shells were only good for about 400 pounds... The tent I've got my sights set on is 125 pounds empty, so adding the rack and an awning would easily exceeded that when sleeping two adults. Am I underestimating a quality shell's weight capacity or is there more to it than I'm realizing?

Many manufacturers make reinforced shells. It's a little more costly but it may provide the security you're looking for. Mine is not reinforced. My tent is 150+ and I sleep 2 up with gear and awning up as well. However I have probably 8 cross bars to disperse the weight of the tent. I use the hell out of my setup and no issues so far. I know homertaco runs a similar setup with 0 issues as well.

Didn't come off that way at all! Just providing my experience. I wouldn't tell you not to get a reinforced cap. But if you don't, it can still work baring you distribute the weight effectively, etc. At least it did for me.
