I bought this truck from a reputable Toyota dealer, they claimed it was rust-free. As you can see, it is anything but. Truck was shipped to me. It is 2005 V6 access cab with low miles, which is hard to find, and why I wanted this truck. I also based my purchase on the fact it was "rust free". The drivers' side frame has obviously been bonded and re-sprayed due to rust, it was listed as having no frame work. It looks as if salty water got underneath the plastic trim that sits up against the closed drivers' side door, and just sat there and ate away the frame. I was wondering: do I only have recourse with the dealer, or is this a warranty issue with Toyota? There is rust all over the place on the frame. Local body shop said it is in very bad condition rust-wise. The repairs were undisclosed. According to Toyota, it looks like it had the "cold weather states anti-rust coating" put on, but only last winter. Talk about closing the barn door after the horse escaped.

If there is a warranty buy-back, what is the time frame? This is my 3rd Taco, my 2001 is still going strong and looks great, no rust (we also had a 2005 GX470 that was in amazing shape, even after 8 years). I was going to get a 3rd Gen Taco here in a couple of years, depending on how Toyota or the dealer takes care of this. Local dealer knew zip about a buy-back program.

That's a lot of rust, but appears no perforations. Makes me question how reputable that Toyota dealer is.

There was the area that had been patched and re-sprayed on the top side of the frame. There was also a bolt missing and water had eaten away at that spot, making it a much larger hole. Didn't get a pic though.

They stated "rust free" in the description?? Were they joking??

Reason #317 why I'd never buy a vehicle sight unseen.

I would send these pictures back to the dealer and demand a price reduction or refund

What part of the country did the truck come from? The fact that there are parts rusted inside the truck would concern me that this vehicle could be a Super Storm Sandy Victim.

First, Why in the hell would anybody purchase a truck car or whatever without looking at it or driving it? It makes zero sense to me.

    That is insane.

If you look closely at the paperwork I would almost be willing to bet somewhere it says these magic words: "Sold As Is"
and if so you have no recourse, but are at the mercy of the dealer.

Call maybe they will have some mercy, but I severely doubt it. I wish you luck.
