I hope you didn't purchase a tacoma for its track performance... neither auto or manual are going anywhere too quickly

Well the 08-11 Sti was a fail all in its own. They didnt perfect the transmissiom until this year. Now they run 4.7 0-60 as opposed to 5.6. But what about the other cars. I.e. 350/370z auto vs manual, FRS, tC, RX-8, Kia Sorento, Nissan X-Terra, etc. All the manual versions are faster...

Atomic powered engine swap, because spaceship.
The coolest truck is the xrunner. I'd love to have gotten one. Let's be honest. I worked at a Toyota dealership and the called then A.I.D.S., because once you got it, you kept it forever. I was offended when I heard it, but understood when I tried to sell them.

Side note - selling an auto is going to be easier and probably bring more money. The manual is a niche market.

    I also always wanted a regular cab V6 4X4 6speed tacoma..

Agreed, the 12+ front end on the XRunner is sexy. That would be the only 6 spd I'd get for any tacoma.

Well i got the 0-60 of the Automatic Pre-Runner already. I did it myself. Just gotta wait for the break-in of this manual. Then we will know for sure which one is faster!

How is an automatic a theft deterrent?! If anything, manuals are theft deterrents since it seems 90% of the population can't drive manuals anymore. Every car wash, parking garage and valet I go to now looks at me and asks that I drive or they sit there and stall it multiple times in front of me.....

I think you'll find the auto is a tad quicker. From the 6-speeds I've driven....they don't seem to like to be shifted quickly....it is a "truck" tranny, after all. So even if the 6-speed pits a bit more power to the ground it may not be fully realized with it's more lethargic nature.

It's really a personal preference thing. I love my manual and would never consider trading it for a slush box but everyone has different needs and requirements. Is the auto you are looking at in much better condition than your current truck? What is the financial delta on your current ride vs acquiring the new truck?

For the tiny difference in acceleration why trade? Not worth it IMO. My 3rd Taco (current auto Prerunner) was basically a gift from the wife. That said, if it had been a 6-speed I would have gladly taken it. Coming from driving manuals for 30+ years it's been quite a change for me to get used to the slush-box. In fact.....I'm really not used to it 100%. I miss my 3rd pedal.

I've had my 2015 6 speed for about 6 months now and love it. Nothing against autos, but I feel more in tune with my truck. It also keeps me more focused that an auto because I tend to get bored driving an auto and zone out a little. Plus IMO it adds a little "cool" factor to the truck.

Keep the 6 speed. Go buy a crotch rocket if you want 0-60 ;)
