the way i see it is this,
    A) try build around the parameters you currently have but look how long that will take you
    B) sell the truck with the box n subs in it or for that matter pull the subs and leave the box being in there permanently. No one is not going to buy your truck because your box is perm.

If i was going to do a USSC id use high density low expanding foam to seal all the holes, trim once its dried. Take some thin pliable plastic and lay it down first,
Take a big section of stretch cloth and lay it down as in piece into the compartment.

Add a ton of resin to the stretch cloth, Lay another plastic layer over top and if there are no holes fill with water or packaging peanuts with weight on the top to push into all the voids. That should give you as perfect of a mould as you can get in this situation. Once that is complete, remove water/ packing nuts - the plastic should pull right off and continue on with your day

I actually had to create a 2" seat lift and lift my back seat in order to get enough airspace for these x8's

I'm not really sure how to add that up. I wasted a lot of money TRYING to make it out of fiberglass. I ended up using 1/2" mdf, silicone, foam sealant, sound deadener and some L-brackets with screws/nuts. I'd say about $50 with everything.

Remember the only part of the "box" that I had to fabricate is a ~50x11 piece of wood.

I'm thinking a ported sa8 would work down there. Right now I have 2 sealed JL 10's behind the seat and it's just not enough

Unfortunately you would run into mounting depth issues with that beast of a sub. It would require some persuasion of the body and/or a creative tilt to fit one of those. I couldn't even fit them in my box behind my seats because there just isn't enough room. I can't fold my seats flat as it is with the P2's back there.

single 8 ported under the seat will have less output than the 2 10s behind the seat sealed

Not necessarily it's all depends on how much power he's currently running and how much power he's planning on running... You know you can run 2 sa 8's in a 1.5 cu ported with great output... I have 2 x8's on 2k in a little over 2cu and it smashes/ destroys the output I was getting from 2 12 mtx squares I had in a sealed box... That's a huge cone area difference I was also running at 2ohm on a different amp which had me around 800 rms

5 or 600 w to 1 sa8 will kill 2 10 JLs. I don't have my truck right now so I wasn't sure how deep the space was. But 6 5/8 for woofer depth is prolly not gonna fit. :(
Unless you can raise the seat a lil?

I thought about that, but the seat is already flimsy without the addition of a spacer. I suppose once it's down you wouldn't notice. There is also a "hook" that sets the seat into position although I'm sure that wouldn't be hard to fabricate. It was more work than I wanted to do and not be happy with the way the seat ended up afterwards.

Anyone ever try and mounting subs facing forward under seats in these double cabs instead of facing up?
