Did a couple more pulls and got it down to 7.8 sec 0-60. I'm within a 1/2 sec of the old truck. Plus the old truck had a k&n filter and less gas. Maybe a little to do with driver mod too... :p

It has been discussed before. The auto is faster 0-60. It's also super consistent at doing it too. Also a k&n filter nets you zero performance. I have a feeling it's not the answer you were expecting when you started this thread.

You are right. The real reason why I started this thread was because I felt the Manual kind of sluggish after trading from my Auto. At first I assumed the 6 speed was faster. Then after driving and testing it I realized it is actually slower by sub 1/2 second. Which upset me. It is slower, but dont get me wrong, the manual is more fun to drive and it makes me feel more connnected to the truck. I think ill lick my wounds and start modding it. Maybe start with an intake system tomorrow. Since it is a manual maybe ill look into getting an exhaust system in the near future. Im gussing they will net a few hp and shave a few 10ths off getting it closer to the 7.5 Then take it from there. But hey i guess it is what it is!

Hopefully one day the Tacoma will be as fast as my Civic is now.

Well if you can find one, a TRD supercharger will fix your woes most likely. Even the best intike, which I believe is from URD, only adds like 5-8 HP. I can't remember if that's the amount. But you won't be able to feel it. Your beat money spent now would be on his spec-u headers + intake + exhaust + MAF calibrator. With those items you'll will actlly be able to feel a difference.

I was actually going to Finance the TRD Supercharger with my new truck, but they said Toyota doesn't make it anymore. And I don't want to go aftermarket and void the warranty. Ill look into those mods. But what about the headers? Will not having a catalytic converter turn the CEL on?

According to zeroto60times.com the 2005-2015 Tacoma double cab 4x4 has a 0-60 of 7.3 seconds. So whether it's an AT or MT doesn't matter because it's still slow as hell.

There isn't an aftermarket S/C for the Tacoma so far that I know of. At least not one made specifically for it.

That's not bad for a pickup truck. That's quicker than some current cars.

Technically that 7.3 seconds was on a 2011 TX PRO model. The 2005 double cab TRD was 8.6 seconds.

Ultimately though, I recall seeing @Rock Lobster 's YouTube video of his SuperCharged Taco doing 0-60 in like 7 seconds.

    Launch @ 9 seconds. Hits 60 at 16 seconds.

There are still some dealers that are selling them. they are still out there if you can find them. they are not all gone. Start looking now if you want one before it's too late. some and the headers you will need an O2 simulator to prevent the cel code. also there are no aftermarket supercharger kits for 09+ only the TRD.

Sadly he didn't get the same performance some of us other guys saw. I've run a best of 5.8 with mine when the air was 45 F outside. That was with just a URD cat back exhaust and the stock supercharger. it seems to be kinda all over the place in terms of how fast you get.

    So like a defouler?
Ill check again for the SC. If they can get it it would be great, but I'd have to borrow another loan... :S

Interesting. A bump below 6 seconds would make sense if you were a speed enthusiast I suppose. That would suggest a real improvement in HP/Torque.

Do you honestly believe it's worth paying interest, monthly payments so your truck is going to hit 60mph in 0.5 to 1 second faster? If you don't get gouged you're talking about $5k to $6k to buy the kit and get it installed.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the 6sp manual in the mountains. Perfect. A driver can anticipate. An auto trans reacts.

While this is true, folks with an AT can also move the gear selector into L, 2, 3, 4, D. You can anticipate the incline and force from say 3rd into 2nd that way. While coming down from a mountain top lake I used this method to force the truck to stay in 2nd during my descent. Saved me a lot of brake time and kept me from coasting down the mountain side on the trail.

Yeah, I usually don't tell people that because some won't believe it. I didn't either till my buddy broke down the video on his computer. But I may have gotten a factory freak. It was actually pretty quick before the supercharger too.

And while I agree on the waste of money comparable to the performance gained. Sometime you can't put a price on having exactly what you want, even if there are other and better ways of achieving the same goal. Plus the thing makes a sweet noise!

The auto has all 5 gear selections. I used 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in mine today coming down the mountain trails.
