its a Toyota truck and that's all the modifications needed
I am getting around to replace my blown out rusted Bilstein HD shocks with a new setup and was wondering if I should replace the Coil springs too because the truck has over 250k miles on it and while I got the front struts off I could have the coils changed out. The originals OEMs from Toyota are a Progressive or Variable Rate spring since its a TRD model 2004 and I cannot find a aftermarket Progressive rate spring that retains the stock height( I do not want to lift the front)only Constant rate(MOOG) ones in which I can get a reasonable cost over getting new OEM Toyota ones . What would the difference in ride be using the Constant rate this is my Daily Driver so I want the best possible ride (comfort):eek:out of the truck. Anyone with input in this would be appreciated.

I'm not sure what the adjustability of either of those springs is but you'll likely sit a tad higher with a standard spring. Doubt you'll notice. If you were happy with the progressives I would consider scouring CL for a used set. I'm literally looking at 4 used set's as we speak for under $100 and I'm not even on CL!

Shit, if $$$$ isn't an issue (more or less) Do it, the OEM coils are shitty progressives & you can have a suspension upgrade without a lift for sure,& for what you pay for OEM front struts just a couple more bucks
& you'd have some 5100's with an upgraded coil and a great ride , money well spent just my $.02

what is a good aftermarket setup that retains the stock height of the truck, I have seen the bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks and have heard good things about them. but I want to use Bilstein 4600 with ??? what coil springs that don't lift the front end>>>what coil springs and the 4600s. I will pay $$ for that setup no problem. the answer to that is ??

I went with the MOOG 81102 coils and Bilstein 4600's on my 2004, 2.7L, Manual, Extended Cab. Purchased from RockAuto for $46 for the pair.

They are 465lb, constant rate coils and I'm very satisfied with the ride height and comfort. This is a daily-driver, all-street vehicle and I wanted to maintain a standard ride height. I also heard good things about this MOOG/Bilstein pairing from 3 other Taco owners.

Make sure to match your MOOG coil with your specific truck configuration - 81102 was for my configuration.

Hate to revive this and I’m sure you’ve already gotten it all figured out BUT brands like King icon and fox make OEM replacement coils. They offer no lift but they are WAY better than the OEM shocks and are good for anything off road. They also absorb anything you throw at them. I think they have more travel than your stock coils too.
