So, I've finally worn out my stock tires on my 2013 DCSB OR and it's time for some new tires and wheels. In the near future, I plan to get a small lift (2 to 2.5 inches), like the adjustable Bilstein 6112 kit from Head Strong Off Road, but I need tires now.

My questions are ... 1) will 275x70x17 tires fit under my stock suspension without rubbing 2) what wheel backspacing will I need to keep from rubbing or smashing my fenders under full stuff.
    3) for the lift, since I'm only planning on 2-2.5 inches do I need to get the UCAs. I know probably not from an alignment standpoint but would they help in articulation?

    Thanks

    1) 265/70R17 is the largest tire advised without a lift to avoid rubbing. So you may get minor rubbing with 275s.
    2) Not certain on the minimum, I'm running 4.15BS if I've done the math correctly (17x7.5, +6 offset) and think that would be the ballpark you would want to be in.
    3) At 2" you do not need UCAs. At 2.5" you likely will for a good alignment. New UCAs will give your suspension more droop as well.

At 2-2.5" have you considered 265/70R17? They fit without a lift, don't require trimming, and a much lighter than 275s, which will help acceleration, mpgs, and braking. 275s are only .5" taller, meaning .25" ground clearance gain. Seems like a lot of headache for .25".

275/70-17 will rub. As stated above 265-70/17 (265/75-16) will be the biggest for stock suspension.

Thanks for the feedback. I've been researching all day. Probably going to bite the bullet and go ahead and get the lift now. I'm going to check out the 265x70x17. Seems like they may be a better fit for daily driver and weekend forest service roads and hunting trails.

My last truck as a reference, this is what 265/70-17 will look like on 2.5" of lift in front. These wheels are 16s, but the overall diameter is the same. They fill the wheel well pretty good I think. Doesn't affect your mpgs and in my case corrected the speedo.

There are pics in the links in my sig with both 265/70R17s before the lift and after with a 2" lift.

Thanks for the pic...nice looking truck! Love the stance...not too aggressive but much better than stock. The 16 inch wheels don't look too small either. That could save me a few hundred dollars between the tires and the wheels if I went with 16 inch wheels.

Look at the wheel tire combo as a whole. C-load tires are what is right for our trucks, which are significantly lighter and ride better than 1 ton E-load tires.

For example, if you want to run Duratraccs, 16" is good because the wheels are lighter and 265/75R16s Duratracs come in load C. If you wanted to run KO2s (like I did) 16" is not a good wheel size as they only come in load E for 265/75R16, which are 8lbs heavier per tire than 265/70R17 KO2s which come in C-load.

Tirerack.com is an excellent site to get tire specs.

Well after a weeks of contemplation I've finally pulled the trigger on tires and a lift for my 2013 DCSB OR.
    I'm going with...

Bilstein 6112 Coilover Package from Head Strong Offroad set at 2.5
Bilstein 5160 remote resi Rear Shocks
    Light Racing UCAs
Deaver Add a Leaf 1.5 inch
    Firestone Ride Rite AirBags
    Daystar Air Bag Craddles

    17" TRD SEMA Wheels (Black)
265/70/17 BF Goodrich All Terrains C load rated (Thanks to the input from crashnburn80)

Everthing should arrive next week and my son and I will be be doing the install next weekend.

Hopefully I've put together a good all around package that will perform well offroad (no hardcore wheeling here), as a daily driver and won't drag azz when loaded with 15 bags of mulch.

Sounds like you have done your homework, should be a good setup for what you describe. Look forward to the pics when it is done.

Nice. A lot of people say good things about those tires.

Well I finally got the lift, wheels and tires installed. Did the lift in my garage over this past weekend. The UCA bolts were a real pain in the azz. But after lots of sweat and more cussing than a Ricard Pryor comedy album its done. Absolutely love the way it turned out. It drives like a truck now. The stock suspension was to car-like in my opinion. I never felt like I was driving a truck....I sure do now. No vibes to really speak of and the ride is not to harsh. Hopefully I can get up to the mountains this weekend for a little 4x4 testing. These forums have proved to be invaluable. Thanks to all who helped me by offering opinions and suggestions!

Sorry dude just saw your post. I went with Bilstein 6112s set at the top setting,LR UCAs up front and 5160s with Deaver 1.5 AAL in the rear. Wheels are TRD SEMAs with 265/70/17 KO2s.
