Electronics & the heat......

Hey Gang....

The last few days have been 95 degrees - amazing the heat came up on us quick. So obviously...it gets a bit HOT in the truck when its sitting outside.

I have a scangauge mounted on steering column - and I know they recommend to keep it covered and out of the heat. I also have an 80gig ipod that pretty much stays inside my center console all the time. They both get HOT.

You guys worry about this stuff? You scangauge owners...do you cover it up in these conditions? And I've never had problems with my nano in this heat (same scenario) - but the Classic is a slightly different animal.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Or am I worrying too much?

 

I leave my iPod in the center console all the time. I've never had any issues.

 

Haven't had any problems yet... but are you saying to unplug it before I start the truck up (give the scangauge power)?

or wait until I have problems, then proceed with powering it down?

 

Janster I've never seen the scangauge but what if you fabricated a tastefully cut brushed aluminum "sun shield" to shroud over the top of the unit-kinda with a 'visor' effect protruding over the readout like the SunTachs have? Then patent it, make a million and take us all out for hotcakes
