Did you already buy new springs? Notching the hitch bracket is free... just sayin.

Lol I dont think were on the same sheet of music lol. The hitch isent the problem, not with the new or original shackles. The problem is these springs are just netting me too much lift when combined with the new shackles.

The OEM shackles are hitting the frame in between the two shackle arms because the OEM shackles narrow when the reach the spring mount part of the shackle. Best way I can describe it lol

But the hitch has nothing to do with it.

Hey Matt, have you thought about taking the 3" lift out of the front and getting 2.5-3 inch lift for the rear. That's what I ended up doing. 6" lift all around is hard on your front end, your carrier bearing and your drive shaft. I know you already know that but just wondering why you wanted 6 inches of lift. good luck with it

This pic drives me nuts. This is basically my 1985 SR5 in a 1st gen. Minus the liner, toolbox, and flare's. Chrome Rub bars went to the rear tire well. Same wheels with 4 ply 10.50's. Same red, same stripe which was replaced by me once. Young and dumb in 86. It had been stock suspended jumped in the Vegas desert, and purchased before I knew what to look for. Fixed it with a Downy racing bar between the front lowers and my buddys frame rack. Added vertical kicker shocks. Drove it for 13 years and still wish I had kept it. Seen it once in the Portland OR area after it was gone.

I simply cant remove the lift from the front... Drop bracket lift, which means the front cross member was cut out. At this point if I wanted to do anything drastic like removing the 6inch from the front. I would be closer to going to a sas swap. And I am not dumping that much money and time into that.

I ended up selling the Alcans. Then bought ome/dakar springs in combo with the blocks and OEM shackles. Leveled me out perfectly. Now the next item to be purchased is a budbuilt traction bar for out on the trail.

So i have the same suspension as you and wanna swap the rear springs with the Dakar's too! So did you keep your fabcrap lift blocks then just throw the Dakar's over top of them, with or without the Dakar aal??

Yes, kept the blocks and got the Dakar springs with NO aal. The blocks are 3" and the Dakar springs net you 2 1/4" of lift. Added together you get 5 1/4" total lift in the rear which leveled me out perfectly.

Nice! I have a bunch of weight on the rear, bed rack and heavy rear bumper. Im thinking I'll need the aal, but I'm not sure. Guess I'll have to buy em anyway and see when the time comes.
