Most Orca attacks are old and poorly documented, which means they could be false. However, the reports do exist.

There's never been a documented fatal Orca attack in the wild that I have ever seen

    From your second link

"I suspect that the whale that approached thought he was a harbor seal splashing,” said John Ford, a researcher of killer whales with the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans’ Pacific Biological Station in Nanaimo, British Columbia.

“He’s about the first person I know of that’s actually been approached and touched,” said Craig Matkin, a Homer-based marine biologist and co-director of the North Gulf Oceanic Society.

There has never been a documented fatal killer whale attack on a human. The only relatively well-documented bite was one suffered by a surfer in California in the early 1970s."

I never said anything about a fatal attack :notsure:,

The question was about documented attacks, which have happened. Only one attack is well documented though.

IIRC only 5 shark species have confirmed kills, which is a small count for the amount of large predatory shark species. Animals hate eating us. We probably taste like crap lol.

In that video when the Orca goes under the kayak , that's exactly what is was like when the one went under our boat , you can just make out the white markings in the dark water

    QFT.

Have humans been nice to a single species on earth, considering how we now dominate the planet?

Maybe the species that have blown up with us. Rats, gulls, cats, rabbits, etc.

Sadly, we actually eat dog and cat in various parts of the world. Even Guinea Pigs are a food source for us in some places. Not to mention we launched a few pets into space just to make sure they didn't explode in zero gravity before we went there.

Not worth arguing about but the question was do they knock people into the water to feed on them like they do with seals on ice

Unless they knock seals off ice flows to bump into them like the story in your link , feeding would generally mean a fatality for the prey item

So if it's not worth arguing about... :notsure: why are you arguing...

My point was that one of the attacks, the one in the journal, references an attack in an ice field on the open ocean. All good though. I was just sharing some information.

Not to commandeer this convo.. but all this talk of "killer whales" caught my attention. I think it's pretty crazy how these whales, and seals too for that matter, don't seem to be particularly aggressive towards humans. In fact, it would seem as though they view us as friendly/worth protecting. I saw a TED talk on seals in the Antarctic that depicted them as being quite protective of and friendly towards humans, which up until the point at which they made this discovery they were known only for their viciousness when hunting and incredible strength.

Only wicked/dangerous things I have heard of in relation to sea-creatures would be some of the unfortunate animals living at SeaWorld. One whale in particular that lives there has killed at least one trainer as well as torturing a couple others...

Also, when these whales hunt in packs they will disembowel sharks for fun.. that is, when they're not biting their throats out. Scary stuff.

For anyone interested here's the same guy but doing a different talk. I can't find the video I first watched but this is him telling the story in a different setting, albeit telling it with less impressive delivery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmVWGvO8Yhk
