Gonna put my purchase off 'til March. Got a hot lead on a custom knife I'm gonna buy. Won't really need these doors until after Spring thaw. I'll be back though.

Just received mine, small and large door, today and they look great! Quick shipping too!

    PROS
    - The gauge of the metal is stout
    - The powder coated finish is clean and nicely done
    - Looks factory
    - Tight/Snug fit with seals
    - Much better price than the Tuffy Box. Not "as" secure but if they are going to unscrew it then it's gone anyway. These doors will provide a reasonable measure of security by preventing crimes of opportunity. A determined, experienced thief will be able to defeat ANY security measure short of lead poisoning.

    CONS
    - Had to spend a bit of time, like Joe Pesci in Goodfellas, with a vice and a hammer to get the locking tabs to engage correctly. They would only rotate about 80-90% of the way.
    - If you tighten the setscrew even a single pound too tight the key will not disengage when in the locked position. Was the same for all locks.

    SOLUTIONS
    - I removed the locking tabs and bent them a bit with a vice and hammer so that they would turn freely, while still locking tight. Not much, maybe an 1/8"
    - Added a bit of grease to the friction points
    - Added some Threadlock to the setscrew to counter not being able to torque it down. Alternatively, you could use a splined lock-washer.

Other than that these doors rock! Now I can lock my cargo net, bedrail cleats, ratchet straps, etc. neatly and conveniently away. Thanks!

Shipping Tip: USPS offers an alternative size Medium Priority Mail Box that would better fit your product for the same price. Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate Box - 2: 11-7/8" x 3-3/8" x 13-5/8". Similar to a FedEx box.

Thanks for the write up! And on the shipping, I switched to the medium flat rate boxes right after I shipped you yours. On the lock, biggest thing there is the gasket. Once it gains a memory, the locks work fine. At first they're tight and you're right about the 80-90% but once the gasket gets its memory, they're good to go. I'm glad you like them though. :bananadance::woot:

I saw some pictures of the bed of the third gen, looks like Toyota carried over the same storage compartments. With that being said, if you're local and you bought a 3rd gen I'm offering a free set of locking bed storage doors if you allow me to verify or design them for the new Tacoma too.

I like these just because mine always come open and the doors and contents inside end up in my bed anyways. Most people don't even notice that the bed has these compartments...

Isn't it always. You have to learn to speak a woman's language. There's nothing they understand or appreciate more than the word "SALE". We can even put a red tag on it if that will help
