Mexico only makes DC trucks, but they are made both places.

Out of curiousity, what is the wage of the production line workers in each plant? I imagine more skilled labor pays more but curious what the wage difference is between Mexico and Texas.

Did learn that all tacoma v6 engines come from Japan and that all trucks are shipped within 24 hours. Leather on limited is pretty thin. Did not like red trim on dashboard for some trucks.

Toyota is hiring at the San Antonio plant. $28 per hour. Only 900 of the 6,000 people that work at the plant are Toyota employees. Majority of plant staff are from multiple product suppliers.

This contradicts earlier info I thought I read that the engines were made in Alabama. Wasn't there a guy on here that worked at that Alabama plant posting some info.....?

Then maybe he mentioned something about the engines coming from AL.... The is a Toyota engine plant in AL that produces 4 and 6 cylinder engines.

The 4.0L engines were definitely made in AL.

The model codes would be the same. The first character in the VIN would be the difference. 5=US and 3=Mexico

Tour guide indicated that all Tundra engines are produced in Alabama and that V6 engines for the new Tacoma come from Japan.

Also, contrary to the Limited description within the 2016 brochure, none of the Limited trucks had chrome rear bumpers at the plant.

Tour guide also indicated that orders for new Tacomas have significantly exceeded expectations which has required both shifts to work mandatory overtime. 75% of the trucks that I saw on the production line were Tacomas. They are cranking them out.

Do you mean that once a truck is built, it is shipped to a dealer within 24hrs? If so, there should be trucks in transit to dealers right now
