    The conversion kit gives less stopping power IIRC. Unless you do it right and get a decent set of rotors and pads and custom fit it...

    Nope. Not at all. Doing the proportion valve will solve most your needs. Rear disks also fad faster and don't last as long(pads). That and most of your stopping power, about 60-70% give or take, comes from the front. Using the manual valve you can dial in the rear brakes to actually make them work :p You'll be surprised. Just using the BAMF BPV bracket made a huge difference. A manual valve will be even better.

    Look at the surface area of a disk pad. Now look at the surface area of a shoe. Which one has more? More surface area = more stopping power.
    Not convincing enough? When is the last time you saw a semi truck with disk brakes?

    I would respectfully disagree with these findings. My opinion. And that of Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, etc., almost every major car company in the world. There is a reason we have replaced drum brakes in almost every facet of brakeing with discs. Higher cooling rate and design efficiency. Old muscle cars "upgrade" to discs. Tractor trailer design may still need to catch up to technology. I'm not claiming to be a brake expert, just how I see it.

    Disk brakes fade less. A good vented disk brake setup is better than drums, yes. If you are racing your truck, rear disk brakes might be a good investment.

    But don't fall for the disks > drum argument. Most cars with "rear disk brakes" use un-vented rotors and tiny single piston calipers that are actually worse than the drum brakes they "upgrade."

    Point noted. And agreed. I believe a good quality slotted and vented disc will outperform drums of similar capacity. If drums were so good they would never have changed. And I can definately see swapping over to a tiny mini cooper rear "disc" brake would be worse than what we roll with. I am always learning.

    Disagree all you want. You're not comparing apples to apples. And I am an expert. Take any of those big name race car companies and look at the disks and the pad. They are huge. Yes you can have the same and better stopping power, but it's a 14+ inch disk. Disk brakes are more efficient at cooling. But take the same sized drum and compare it to a disk and the drum has better stopping power every time. But absolutely, drums fade faster. When we're talking trucks, which are for towing loads, bang for buck you can't beat a drum.

    Why do all the new f350, 250, 2500, 3500, dually, etc. have rear discs? They are trucks used for towing. Trying to understand the logic, that's all.

    The same reason all their new trucks come standard with nothing smaller than a 17" wheel and you can't fit anything smaller. The disks are huge.

    I'm not advocating that drums are better than disks. They are not. I'd take a large rear disk setup if I could. But larger disks, mean larger calipers. Larger calipers mean more brake fluid needing to be pushed. More fluid means larger diameter piston in the brake master cylinder. Larger diameter piston means larger brake booster. It's a huge domino effect with our trucks. Yes it can be done, but it's not just a simple disk swap like everyone thinks. And the ones that are...suck.

    Most modern trucks come with 17-18'' rims as Jason said to fit the bigger calipers.

    I like my 15s..cheaper tires and idk about you but id rather have 2'' more sidewall between my rims and the rocks personally.
