That's my sense too.

I also get the feeling that Nico might have found a bit more reason not to get quite so close to the limit, now that he's a daddy and all. Who knows, maybe it will pass. Then again maybe it has to do with Hamilton saying "I could win by 20 seconds". Doesn't hurt that the team told him he had to do it, and he did.

Didn't Torro Rosso run Ferrari power plants a year or so ago? I am thinking that Lord Red Bull doesn't want to play unless he is winning.... I agree, he might be getting ready to take his ball home, or RB is really leveraging Renault to sort out the power plant.

 

It is going to be interesting to see this play out.... Maybe Renault is just going to call RB's bluff. They have already said that they are not letting RB out of the engine contract

That is the works teams choice , just like how the Mercedes works team got the upgraded engine in Monza while all other Mercedes powered teams were still on the old spec powerplant

 

Rosberg was out-qualified by both Ferraris. Both Williams jumped him at the start. I have a hard time putting that all down to the engine.

There's always a difference, no matter what the rulebook or engine supplier says. In this case the order of engine quality / power output / support / knowledge sharing will be: Ferrari, Haas, the rest.

I hope Renault does put their livery on the Lotus cars next year. I think that has the potential to provide a real boost to the level of competition. With Honda suffering an ignominious 2015, if their competitor (Renault and Nissan have a business alliance) were to enter the fray under their own colors that might encourage the team to new heights. Plus of course Renault will not want to put their lipstick on a pig. Add Haas to the mix and wow, 2016 could be a banner year for the sport.

If their only engine customer is themselves, I wonder if they'll still commit.

 

They already knew that they would be their only engine customer at least at first , that's the whole reasoning behind becoming a works team

 

Are you sure Red Bull is out? Having Renault commit to a works team should give them some assurance that Renault power will improve.
