Guys sorry for likely a repeat question, but would the rims off an OEM tacoma 265/65 R17 fit on the 2003 4x4 double cab without rubbing?

Not sure if the 17" rims have an offset or not. Rule of thumb for the 2003 was 0 offset and 4.5 back spacing.

    thanks,

the lug pattern is the same, but stock backspace on the newer tacoma is 5" and some change...

on your 2003, they will sit in about 1/2 inch in from stock, putting the sidewalls of the tires closer to your stock UCA...

if you decide to run an aggressive tread tire later or air down to wheel, the tire will rub on the UCA and/or frame rail on full turn or articulation..

but, you can always run wheel spacers to compensate if you are getting the newer wheels for a great deal...

The 1059 are also 4.5" backspacing wheels...you won't be able to go wider on your tires then 10.50 unless you wanna run spacers.

Hmm, I was going to go with a 2.5" lift and try 275/70 r17 on rims with 4.5" back spacing on a 2004 Dbl cab

In reference to the original sizing 265/70R16, toyo said 10.88in wide to 10.43in wide no three tires they recommended.

Staying with the original 4.5 bs, should be okay no?

if staying within the realm of those stock tires, then yah, 4.5" is fine...

if you later lift the truck and decide to get bigger tires, depending on how aggressive the sidewall is, you may need to run wheel spacers or get new wheels...

if you are pretty sure you will not go bigger and intend to keep the wheels for the life of the truck, then go for it...

I am running new sport wheels on my 98 tacoma Gen 1. I noticed the wheel was really close to the control arm. I decided to pick up some wheel spacers from spidertrax and glad I did. They gave the truck a much nicer look. I am running 265 65 17 wheels. If i get another photo Ill put on up.

    Wheels with spacers old wheels.

Which hunsaker seats would you recommend for mostly street use and some off road. My 2003 seats are better then the 1997 ones, but a drop in replacement would be nice. Maybe even heat...

You can run the 05 and up wheels but you will need to run spacers for anything wider the 10.5 tires. Those 16" Pro Comp at 4.5" BS are also the same.

are the spacers 100% NEEDED to run those rims on a 98-00?

He said they were really close to the UCA. If you stick to 10.5 wide tires...you should be fine.

This rim stuff is all too weird.

If you have a 16x7JJ rim centerline is 3.5" , Published backspacing is 4.5" So the offset is 25.4mm or 1". I have seen the BS and centerline measures given with a 0 offset - which is impossible. Whats going on?

    8" rim, centerline 4", back space 4.5" gives a offset of 1/2" or 12.7mm
