With the death off the TRD supercharger and the introduction of a new generation of taco, is there any hope of a supercharger and EMS for the 09-15 Tacoma? I like the design of the URD kit over the TRD kit to begin with and I'm really itching to be able to go forced induction with better tuning support than what Toyota was able to offer.

I just mean to say other vehicle companies have aftermarket sc kits available that double hp. Why do we get 1/4 more.

It's the engine. The 1GR-FE can't get into the high RPM's you are talking about with the Mustang, nor can it tolerate excessively high boost.

Is your buddy S/C the V6 or V8 mustang? V8 and he'll cross 600 HP easy. V6 and he will need to do some work or he'll blow that motor. The 3.7 L isn't built to handle that sort of power long term. A lot of kids here talk about how much power the blower will add to the mustang and put $0 into building up the engine first. Then they cry to Ford when shit hits the fan .

This is what I'm after is why? What is so special about the 09-15 connector that makes it impossible to clone? We have tuning chips for so many vehicles, why not the 09-15 taco? I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just genuinely curious. It seems like there is certainly the support for such a product, especially now that the TRD stuff is gone, that leaves the aftermarket as the sole supplier.

Honestly, it's because it's a custom piece of plastic and URD hasn't had luck finding a good CHEAP source for it. I've heard a rumor that Unichip can make the harness for you but I've never looked into it.

So no kidding. I called URD yesterday to query their plans for an upgrade/new SC kit for a '15 taco. I'm not confident that it is going to happen anytime soon. I know I'm new to the Tacoma Forum but the 'scene' isn't as fanatic about making power as the BMW forums. When the last 2 M3 chassis models came out, power parts were almost instantaneous from the aftermarket. Keep in mind that these were completely different power plants between the chassis. (I6 to V8 to Turbo I6)

I think making power now is going to come from one off custom setups made up from parts and pieces sourced from Jegs, Summit and your local machine shops.

Lol i wish a 2 door coupe was more practical for me. I wanted a subaru brz or the new 2015 mustang myself. They are easy on the eyes lol and appear quite fun to drive. Also the large aftermarket options available

Well, this is disappointing! So is what I'm hearing/reading correct? You can no longer find a [new] supercharger for the 4.0L Taco? FML! I just bought my '15 Tacoma last week!!! I have BIG plans of converting it to long travel and was planning on adding a supercharger as well. :crapstorm:

What other options aside from exhaust do we have to increase HP in this thing? I will be honest, the performance out of the 4.0 is much better than the 3.4 I had in my 4Runner with 200K miles on it, but I know that I'm going to lose a lot of that performance when I put the bigger tires on :boom:
