Thats another option, even if my philosophy is always stick to the larger group, not the smaller ones. And the consumption is a lot worse that the 2016 or even the 4-Runner.

But its a fraction of the cost. With rebates and dickering I bet you could get a new one with the leather/sunroof luxury package for 33k CDN

The Frontier is 15/21 and the new Tacoma is 18/23. I would not say that is a lot worst. What does that come to? Maybe 100-200 extra in gas per year?

My 2006 Frontier was averaging 15.8L/100KM or 14 miles to the US Gallon which I thought was pretty shitty gas mileage so I sold it.

The Frontiers can be thirsty, just a heads up.

I've heard people say similar things. If you go on fuelly the frontiers are getting slightly (very) better mileage than the tacomas. I like fuelly because its actual people recording their fill ups. Very helpful.

TRD Sport available in Canada in DCSB? Buy one and pay $1000 to put an air locker in? :notsure:

If you have a residential US address, it's usually cheaper just to keep the US plates and insure it in the US state.

In Canada the DBSB is always manual and the DCLB is always automatic.

So if you want a manual that's fine, but if you want an automatic, you can't get a DCSB.

They have absolutely zero legal say with regards to where the vehicle is located after the sale. Possibly with exception to financing. Presumably though, a cross border sale will be for cash.

Frankly, I don't think that this is going to work out favorably for you in terms of *exchange rate* given where the dollar is at these days.

BUT... if you go to a dealer with cash ready to buy a vehicle off the lot, I doubt that they will turn you down. A cash sale is a cash sale.

Most of the sales restrictions, like I said, will be due to financing/leasing, on account of having a local address where they can send a repo truck if you don't pay.

After contacting a dealer in the US, the sales manager told me they are not allowed to sell to canadians. If he does so, he could loose his franchise, he told me. I guess it is an agreement between Toyota Canada and Toyota USA to protect their own market.

If I have an agreement with someone with a US address, I end up with a cash sale anyway because this person will certainly want his cash right away.

I might have an opportunity, but I need to work the business case to see if this cost too much. I am waiting both web site US and Canada to be updated with the 2016.

The other way to get a US market truck into Canada without all the BS around a new vehicle may be to have a Dealership sell you a Demo model, now it is a "used vehicle" and the regulations are different.

You see demo vehicles listed as used all the time on eBay for example.
