Haha. Toyota improving on the bushings, that was funny man. While they may LOOK fine, pull them apart and check the inside, guaranteed they are scrap.

Great write-up and find OP! I always thought the front radiator support bushings were a little too soft as well. Just ordered a set of Energy's. Thanks again bro

How much fun was it to install the cab mounts? General procedure you used? You and @Torspd are the only two I've heard of doing it. Thanks.

I have not done them yet. It looks too much like a pita and I don't have the time to lift the cab up like that. I have only done the radiator core support mounts.

Yeah I know what you mean. I think mine are okay and I'll probably wait until it's an issue or convenient to do...

Before dinner tonight, I decided to flip the bushing so the larger one is on top now. I left out the big washer. Can't tell from my pics but part of the big bushing bulges out a bit. I think that's what the washer does, keeps the bushing square. I'm not going to worry about it, but will keep an eye on it.

Only reason I did this is because I think the big washer on the bottom was contacting the frame making a little noise. And I hate noise. :D

It very well may had been making noise. As for the washer I can see where it will begin to cause problems, put it on, it doesn't look happy in there as it currently sits. Or get a thinner washer set from a hardware store. Use the current ones you left out as a reference for the holes diameter and the overall diameter.

Looks like that dent is causing the bulge. Still think I'm going that route with mine.

That dent is from tapping with a wooden dowel when I couldn't get proper alignment.

It can't be stated enough that the sheet metal is really soft.

I know my core support is bent. After flipping the bushing the pass side bumper has some clearance, but the driver side does not...

    Oh well... :D

That's what I'm afraid of pulling mine out and then not being able to get the new ones in. My frame is bent to shit

You will know you have problems if you can't easily take your bolts out. That's how my driver side was, had to tap out with hammer.

Lifting truck from slider works really well for unloading the joint and creating space. Also had great success tonight with wood and floor jack for creating enough space for the bigger bushing.

When you tighten them down, does it tighten to a stop on the inner sleeve?
If it doesn't tighten to a stop, maybe you can drive on it a bit then tighten the side with the gap some more.

Time to get a tubed radiator support and inner fender wells. I am seriiusly starting to debate doing it to mine. Every mod I do to the core support only seems to shift the weakness somewhere else on it. That bullshit ass sheetmetal is just way too soft. I wonder if Tundras have the same issue.

Please refer to my upper post for your reply as well. :D

Thank your batteries guys. Like I said. I have been talking about bent core supports for some time now and I think many of you are starting to see the light. Mild offroading or harder, the core supports and inner fender wells bend predominantly due to the battery.

It happens to pavement pounders also, it just takes longer, but all those nasty potholes and bumps out in the streets eventually take a toll on that soft ass sheetmetal.

I'm surprised more people aren't having problems, especially all those running a 31M battery. Odyssey states that it weighs 77.8 lbs, and add to that a stainless battery cage...
