I just received a Bilstein 5100 kit from Headstrong Offroad with 884x springs and an AAL. The kit also came with a 1/4" taco lean spacer. I was expecting the spacer to be between the coil spring and the top hat, but it was "pre-installed" on top of the entire assembly.

I've read all the disadvantages of spacer lifts, most notably the chance one could break a shock if the shock reaches minimum length before the bump stops fully engage. Why is it OK to install a taco lean spacer above the coil over assembly, but it is considered "bad" to do the same with a regular "lift" spacer?

Well. It's only 1/4 inch, not 3 inches.

That about covers it, I think.

Yeah 1/4in to 1/2in spacer above the top hat still leaves plenty of upward shock travel after bumpstop. Its the 2+ in lift spacers you gotta be weary of.

Ah...just checking. I couldn't figure an easy way to compress the suspension and see what hits first. If there is enough margin, then no big deal.

Only way to tell would be to remove the coil and cycle the suspension.

I plan on doing exactly that within the next month or so when i install my UCA's just to see if i can get some more travel out of the front of my truck as i feel as though im limited on my uptravel.
