Here's a shot from my first trip out with my RTT. This is up by Mormon Lake (near Flagstaff), a great area to camp.

Replaced the miserably bad Velcro straps with an alternate method of securing the tent. Works very well and doesn't budge or give way like the Velcro did. d622db35f202bed769dbdfb84e9e44e3_36e620fdf022b55b023443e5d7cfe37ffbd841ff.jpg

I did the same thing to mine after having the straps come loose going down the interstate. I found the double rings got too tight though - had to dig out the leatherman and use the pliers to get the strap loosened up enough. I ended up replacing the generic velcro with velcro brand heavy duty stuff and haven't had any issues since.

I considered this as well, but after my snap broke that held the ladder down I opted to do something else.

the snaps were going to be the next move if the new velcro didn't work

This is reason why I've been building my truck to be as convenient as possible. I don't like being anchored to a spot, especially when you might find an even better one down the path a bit. Sure it's convenient to be able to leave camp set up at a trailer, but where i camp sometimes the benefits would be outweighed by the struggle of getting the trailer there in the first place. So I've been building my truck compensate for it's short comings. I've been going for the goal of setting up a table, chairs, awning, bbq, 2 burner stove, and a prep table in under 5 minutes. It usually ends up costing a bit more than the cheaper options on the market, but i have seen too many people buy the cheaper options, and though they usually are of decent quality, the inconvenience of setting it up and packing them up usually ends up in it not getting used often if at all, or sold.

I had left over strap after replacing the PVC cover straps with 1 1/2" and some buckles to match so I used some to replace those Velcro straps that were coming apart on me.

I got everything from countrybrookdesign.com, they had everything I needed for a good price
