I have an old '01 Dakota with the 4.7L that is getting long in the tooth and I'm looking at the new Tacoma. My only concern with it is my doubts about the power. Is there good aftermarket support for forced induction on these Toyota V6's? Any rumours of Toyota moving to a turbo V6?

Also I live in Denver and have just recently learned how bad the impact of altitude is on naturally aspirated cars when I started racing a few friends in the their Camaro's and 370Z with my M235i and they have nothing for me, while the mags (at sea level) show the cars generally running in the same pack. You need to look into a v8 for power without forced induction

At the moment there are pretty much no options to do forced induction on the 2GR.

This engine should feel more powerful than your Dakota. My friend has one with the 4.7 and I was surprised at how slow it felt compared to my 4.7 4Runner with 33 inch tires.

If you really want forced induction, URD is your best bet. Shoot them an email and ask them if they have any plans for the 3.5. My bet is that they do

Turn the fake hood scoop into a real hood scoop, and resurrect Pontiac's Ram Air.

RAM Air Systems have been shown to only slightly improve NA induction systems at 200mph+

On a carbureted vehicle like the GTOs were, the value wasn't as much the 'ram' effect as it was the constant supply of ambient air. 10* = ~ 1hp, so even on a 90* day you are better off than the normal under hood air temps, often as much as 6-7 hp. Yea, it's not much, but it's free. In the cooler month you get even more delta. (its not the actual temp that makes the difference, but the density)

It's why people who want to add fancy intakes should only do so if its one that actually draws ambient air. Those are the ones that work.

Disclaimer: I do have GTO experience. I owned #104, and crewed on a '69 Judge (Ram Air IV) that was the NHRA E/S ET record holder for a bit.

My wife understands that I would trade her for a '69 Ram Air IV, '66 Tri-Power, or a '71 Buick GSX.

However, since she's a '67 model I don't think her KBB value would hold up. I need to get her appraised.

Not really the same thing. HP might win races but lower RPM torque makes for easier towing without the engine screaming.

I get error 404 so doesn't look like they are ready yet. They do mention a previous version. Was this version popular? Reliable?

Those things are unstopable. For a gas powered truck with FI those things sure can haul straight balls.

Yeah they don't make thing like they use to. I love the classic clean lines, 5.4L V8 and boost  Great aftermarket support too

    Must be worn slap out.
What year is it? Club cab quad cab 4x4 in 07 or 08 they had 300+ hp and more torque. Before that about 250 hp 300+ tq and both trucks have a similar weight. If it's a manual even more of a no.

Just wondering not trying to start a poo flinging party here.

As much as I like the Syclone I never liked the square look on it. Under the hood it's all business
