I could have bought it tonight.
But skipped and will be looking for a new, left over 2015.
This thing is uglier in person than I ever thought.
    Enjoy the pix tho.
They simply didn't make the front grille big enough.
    Lol.

The "4X4 Sport" sticker is quite tacky.

More like a long hood. Damn! If that's a 5ft bed it looks like the hood is at least 5ft long ... WTF. I didn't mind the grill but from the side it looks goofy AF.

Man I really wished they would've mellowed out with that grill.

Will look good with satoshi or some aftermarket treatment though. The thing that really kills me is the lower grill is such an aqward shape... it's long and narrow in the middle. It looks like its squeezed between the grill and that silly overpronounced lower "pouty lip" for lack of better terms. Then it turns out and tapers back a little as it goes to the sides... Idk, its just funny and really wide. Also just noticed the rear tail lights are funny too.
    They went too Rav 4-y...

I think the 12-15 trucks are the peak.
Just like german cars of the early 2000's are all fucking tanks... before cafe emissions forced them to get all plasticy.
Go put your hands on a fist gen cayanne or e90
then go look at a 2nd gen cayanee or f30... it's just not the same.

Everything I like about my truck, the simplistic, analog-ness, near spartan feel to it, the styling, the character of it, is really lost in this new one.... not to 3rd gen hate.

That being said, excluding the lights and front, I do think the overall shape of the truck is better. Like from the side I think it looks really on point. I go back and forth from wanting to like it to being like... naaa

I can tell you seeing up close, these concerns, they're amplified. The length and height and overall dimension of the front end is simply ugly. In contrast the bed seemed weak. And the body flaring and moulding over the wheels seemed really weak up close. The wheels and tires didn't give the impression of tough. It gave the impression of aftermarket wrong offset. They're so far buried in to the body...
Price on this one was $35,489. Included TRD Sport option and 4x4. I wanted TRD Off Road and I would have settled on this has I liked it. I would have driven it home tonight had it not been for the train wreck I felt it was. The 4x4 stickers looked so cheap. And It looked like pieces of new stuck to old. I'd bet anyone $20 that the front door and maybe even the back is exactly the same. Look at the lower half of the door and the bulging. It's identical to the outgoing 2015.
They barely made a dent on the fuel economy. It has lost its DNA. The refinements inside are nice (a carryover steering wheel from the previous gen?!)...But yeah the black
Headliner is nice. Good colors and overall fit is the same. But it still felt like they were borrowing from an old parts chest. If you're going to redesign a truck. Go redesign it. This looked and felt like a mid model revision. I don't care what the reason, and they were forced to make
Improvements to their crush zones and other areas but jeesh- so go redesign the truck.
I arrived pumped to sign on the dotted line. Left desperate to track a 2015 one down before they're all gone.
I would have overlooked all of this had it been propelled by a D4D motor. And no matter how many begs and pleads came from these forums, a diesel is not an option.
Not sure what market research they're doing, but it seems it's not with us in here.

All tacos have looked that way to me, this one is no different and
nothing a set of spacers or after market tires/wheels won't fix.

Yea, the 2016 Tacoma might become the Ford Edsel of the 21st century.
