Any mountain bikers in here? I took a gnarly fall on Labor Day and basically destroyed my Cheapo "Dual Suspension" Schwinn... I'm ready for an upgrade. My best friend has a Specialized Hardrock. It feels so much tighter and better than my Schwinn in every way. Thing is I don't think I want to give up my dual suspension.... The next option is a Stumpjumper... REALLY spendy.

So what I'm getting at is I know there's got to be other quality mountain bike brands out there like specialized but without the giant price tag...

Hoping to get one off craigslist.

Check out the Specialized big hit or the FSR. The FSR is more of a XC bike but still capable of some mild DH. Konas are good too. A buddy used to ride a kona stinky, and that thing was built like a tank

As of February, I'm riding a Specialized Enduro Comp 650b. Stellar bike. I upgraded from a very entry level Cannondale hardtail mtb and cannot even begin to describe how much better the Enduro is. You definitely get what you pay for. That being said, the most important thing is buying a good frame. I think you'll find that slowly, you'll swap out components as they wear / as your skill progresses. A good frame is key.

 

There's one in Lynnwood on 196th SW East of I5. I don't know about farther north in Everett proper. We went there once it was ok. Minimal line inside, the drive up had a long line.

 

Just a reminder: they're closed on Sundays.

 

Found the culprit. One cap only had a couple rollers, the rest were dust. Notice the grease recess packed with powdered bearing.

The other side had grease but was damaged.

Other 2 u-joints were good but still got replaced.

 

I second the Enduro, love mine, great all mountain ride.
