I highly doubt that 9 out of 10 owners will modify their grill. The big deal is after spending 35K or so, you shouldn't have to swap out a grill/front end to make it not so ugly.

So with the new "ugly" Tacoma and thew new Colorado/Canyon, an upcoming Frontier, upcoming Ranger, upcoming Jeep truck and perhaps a VW and Hyundai small trucks coming, I think Toyota will realize that maybe they need to up their game again. Kinda hope the competition steals some sales.

Did anyone see the hood graphics that are optional now? I can't wait to see how hilariously bad that's going to look....

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
Extreme cheapskates usually dont change their ways until they run into wall. More likely we will see Tacoma disappear completely which will be a shame. I hope Toyota Japan comes and fires all the crazy a holes in Toyota Motor USA and starts bringing Japanese designs not that mediocre car like crap.
Take a 4runner, chop back of it and Call it Tacoma Gen3

Saw the truck in person at the Canadian Tacoma tour. All I can say is the TRD grill looks worst in person than it does in these pics.

It does look good too. Why don't you do us a favor and post about it in the second gen section.

Do you really think people wouldn't complain just as much about this front end? I'd wager there are plenty of posts identical this one all over the 4runner forum. In the end, this gen of 4runner looks better after a lift and tires, just like the tundra, and likely just like the 2016 taco.

I have a 2015 limited, and swapping out the door handles and mirror caps is going to run about $200 for oem parts, labor is extra (I'll be doing it myself). Painting might be cheaper but I'd rather just replace with new OEM painted parts and sell off the chrome crap.

FYI, the leather isn't real leather. If options are similar on the 2016, you'll probably lose the heated seats too. Get some quotes from upholstery places before you decide which way to go. I've never been a fan of aftermarket or dealer installed leather. The kits don't really have the same fit quality as the factory stuff.

The "sport tuned suspension" is going to be the major difference, then the hood scoop and the chrome stuff. I was going either way with the hood scoop, might still try to get one. It doesn't really bother me that much to not have it. I knew that I'd either be putting a lift on, otherwise I can pick up the trd shocks off ebay/craigslist for dirt cheap compared to the sport package, which is a rip off in my opinion. If I could have gotten the TRD Off-Road with the double cab, long-bed and heated leather, I would have done that instead of the limited. The only reason why they sell so many sport packages is the stupid hood scoop and overpriced suspension.

I bought a 2015 knowing full well that the 2016's would be on the lot in a few months. I'm glad I did too because the 2015's are getting harder to find. I like the looks of the 2015, and didn't want to be a beta tester for Toyota's new engine. I've had enough experiences with new model vehicles that I am willing to take the resale hit on buying the last of a generation.

    "slightly" and "aggressive" are subjective.

They already do. Why do you think that the hoods on newer cars are so much higher than they used to be? It is because they want there to be enough room between the hood and the engine for when a pedestrian slams their head on it, the hood has some give.
