    Taco- World:

Reaching out to this cool community with hopes of some wise and knowledgeable advice:

2006 V6 2wd 4 door Taco owner here: 180k miles and luckily I've made it this far, but now old Betsy is starting to drip oil. Crawled underneath and looks to be at the rear of the oil pan or another pan near it that LOOKS like an oil pan but is what?

Possible the oil is running from higher up but hard to determine- looked at the engine and around the sides no signs of any valve cover gasket leakage.

What would be a good start here? Attack the oil pan gasket in conjunction with some toyota sealant or? Read somewhere on the forum about cam seals, but don't know if that's only for 3.4L engines or poss an issue with 4.0's too?

Any wisdom is beyond appreciated, and suggestions where to buy parts as well-

    Thanks!
    Brian

Wash the truck in all the suspect areas. Get it really clean. Then find out where it's leaking. And pictures help.

There is a product used by vinyl graphics guys called RAPID REMOVER Adhesive Remover for Vinyl Wraps Graphics Decals Stripes. It is a little bit more expensive than brake cleaner but it removes oil and grease like you would not believe. Much better for cleaning the engine than brake cleaner. Quite a bit safer as well.

Thanks for the replies (and spelling lesson).
Will clean 'er up and what's lurking. Had hoped someone else had a similar situation and possible issues.

    Will report what we find
