It didn't need to be. It has plenty of power for a mid-size truck. If you want full size truck power get a full size truck.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
You COULD have bought it and DIDN'T! I think you'll regret that decision. If not the first on TW... that's gotta mean something but I guess not.

This alone incapsulates my issue with the design. It's a giant pile on overdone plastic, put there for some misguided pursuit of form over function. Look at it compared to the gen 2. It looks pregnant.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    OP,

Thanks for the photos. The interior seems ok, but the front end has a lot going on and looks somewhat disjointed. It may grow on me. Not sure about side views yet and not crazy about wheels (that can be easily changed).

I have had a bunch of Toyota trucks, both large & small and looking back, my favorite(s) were: several small trucks with R22 engines & a 2004 Gen 1, Dbl Cab that I should have kept. My Gen 2s (2009, 2011 & 2012) were all great trucks (except for 4WD driveline vibe).

Bought a 2013 Ridgeline and liked it a lot (especially waterproof trunk in bed) and AWD (called 4WD) in the rain, but it was too van like with poor gas mileage.

Got rid of all trucks, first time in my life, and now have a 2015 Honda CR-V as a daily driver and love it, but need a truck too. Waiting on the 2016 Tacoma, but want to look at them closer than ever now. If I keep the CR-V and buy a truck as a 2nd vehicle, I may give the 2016, aluminum body F-150 with a 5.0 another look.

Like Toyotas much better, but like aluminum bodies on those F-150s too.

Time will tell and I need to look and drive a 2016 Tacoma. If I get another Tacoma, I like the (side view) lines of the extended cab much better than double cab in 2016 models so far.

Like to have maybe an extended cab, V-6 automatic if available.

My super favorite Tacoma would be a regular cab with a V-6 :burnrubber: ... but Toyota will never make that truck ...

We're talking about trucks, right? When I was looking for a truck, I looked up what truck came with 4x4, manual, back seats, and was in my price range. Bluetooth stereo and bedliner were on the nice to have list.

How the grill looks was not on the list.

I hate when I pull into deer camp and the other guys make fun of my truck's grill... said no man I know.

Might be bummed when you hit that new front end on the trail to that deer camp because it doesnt have the approach angle the gen 2s had.

All gen 2 stock 4x4s have a 35 degree approach angle.
    All gen 3 have 29 (off-road version has 32)

You can thank 2 things for that:

    1. Cell phones
    2. Pedestrian right of way laws. Idiots up here don't even LOOK before crossing the road - I've never seen anything like it before in my life. I can't tell you how many people I've almost hit.

Your not getting the point. The industry is moving in that direction and its not going to stop due to Uncle Sam's nephew the EPA.

Not with the previous gen Colorado. A 5.3L V8 was an option.

Agreed! It's quite the norm, nowadays, however the new Taco is still the most handsome of them all. Toyota for the win.

Only if you don't know how to wash it. Wash it correctly and you will have no scratches and swirls. Black does show dirt pretty badly, but when it's clean, Wow!

i do wash correctly. It was a used truck. Even if i bought new in the future, i still wont do black. Hell, even getting snow off a black vehicle here will swirl the paint.
