i have seen several trucks aaround here with the Limited badge on the side. what exactly is the limited package? is it like a prerunner package or something? but like before prerunner packages became popular? or was it renamed after something? can somebody explain please?

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Extra bells and whistles in the cab. And gold badging normally. That's all.

My last truck was a limited version. It was a '99 Tacoma X-cab, 4X4 TRD with the off road package. As far as I know the limited was discontinued with the 2nd gen. trucks. The limited consisted of a little nicer interior with more adjustable seats with lumbar support and a few other extras that weren't available on even the SR5 version. I believe it was only available in that version, meaning X-cab, 4X4, V-6 and TRD. Manual or auto were both available.

Was this package available in all states, or was it only in select regions?

I have never seen a limited Tacoma. It could be a regional thing like the SST Tacomas.

I've seen plenty of limited tacomas but never a second gen...never even heard of a second gen limited after checking this site daily for months:p

Also if it's like other companies they often name a lower end package the limited, sounds more appealing I guess.

Was in the main Toyota Sales brochure so assume it was in the whole US.
Last year I see listed is 2004 on the 1st generation.
