Knowing SD well (living here my whole life) that appears to be the Chula Vista Junkyards. Must be a takeoff front from a damaged Taco. This is not a fab shop, guaranteed.

It's actually pronounced "Oh-Tie." It's in the hands of an auto recycler, so I definitely don't think it came off of someones newly purchased truck. Maybe transit damage occured and was subsequently sold to these guys?

I can't believe that the whole front end is one piece. That would be crazy.

Being one piece will make a custom off road bumper more difficult to make without cutting.

Me neither. For manufacturing purpose only, it would be more economical to have the grill and air dam separated from the bumper. From the pictures, there seems to be some sort of clips holding everything together.

I still think it will take years of abstinence and a few wobbly pops before I see the beauty in that grill...

A very small minority of customers do. Deal with it.

Hard to believe that's one whole piece... I know someone had given us the part number for both the chrome (and more importantly) the black version of the trim around the grill, which was going to be my first mod on my DCLBOR...

This is the thinking that doomed the midsize market share for US manufactures. Designing a truck for soccer moms, more "car" and less "truck".

If the bumper/grill is one piece that would fly in the face of Mike Sweers comment that they wanted to keep much of the truck the same to support the aftermarket.

Once again Sweers is found to be full of crap ( if the above is true)

^^^ This. It's much easier to fab those large pieces separately than as an entire unit. And probably cheaper.

I'm sure there is a reason why they've designed the grill and bumper to be integrated as one piece. I bet it's a "soft" crush zone per new pedestrian safety standards. If they were to design the bumper and grill as separate pieces with more mounting points the front end would be "rigid" in the event of pedestrian collision.
