Thought I would ask here.....I'm sure you folks know more about this than me. I'm not up on data plans at all and wasn't worried about it till yesterday when I figured out how to listen to Pandora radio on my Entune radio. I'm afraid I will go over my data usage if I use Pandora all the time now in the truck. I think the wife and I have like 10gb of data a month. Do you all think that is enough? Have heard horror stories of people getting $500 phone bills for going over their data usage. Thanks.

10g should be more than enough. My wife and I share 10 and we have no problems.

Pandora does not use much at all, just be to safe, check your data usage (dialing #data), listen to Pandora for a few days then check again. It shouldn't be much at all but doesn't hurt to be safe!

Funny you should ask that.... For the most part, my husband and I don't get anywhere near our max usage on normal day-to-day usage. We also have Verizon and 10GB data.

He uses Pandora a lot in the car/truck while we're driving on long trips. Pandora will be running for HOURS......
We went to NY last month - 8 hour round trip - and I think this was the only time we came close to our max usage with only 1 week before a monthly reset.

The good thing ...we get notifications from Verizon when our data usage reaches 3/4 usage. When that happens, we know to stop using it (and being careful with everything else). Other than that...we don't monitor our usage at all unless we get these notifications.

I don't know if those notifications are 'automatic' from Verizon or if you have to setup something in your Verizon account. YOU MUST setup these notifications....it'll save your ass!! LOL

Thanks Jandy...will definitely get the wife to check on that. She's in charge of the phones....I wouldn't even have one if she hadn't bought it for me a couple of years ago...lol. Sounds like I should be safe though.....only use it back and forth to work...about an hour a day.

My wife had a 40 minute each way commute of which she used Pandora most of the way, so let's say 1hr a day 22 working days a month so 22 hours. She only ever hit her 2gb limit once and it was when she forgot to turn on wifi when watching youtube videos. It doesn't use that much data.

More then enough. Just for reference. You can listen for one hour per day for a month and use on average 1gb ( this is for the free 128K per song verizon).

For everyone with VZW you get a widget you can put on your homescreen that shows your bill cycle date along with a visual indication of how much of your data you've used.

I use Pandora a fair amount. I'm currently halfway through my billing cycle and sitting at 897MB used just on Pandora on my phone. We have a 20 Gig family plan that is used among two phones, a tablet, and our primary home internet.

Sign into your Verizon account online, go to My billing and usage->Manage usage alerts. You can set text and emails to alert you at various usage levels. Default is 75%, 90% and 100%.

I have a 2GB plan, use wifi at work and home and never gone over my limit. I listed to Pandora in my truck all the time. Unless you are streaming movies or youtube all day over LTE I wouldn't be worried about it with a 10GB plan.
