What have you done to your truck lately
They don't have covers I had the run around from the start. They told they had and when I got my light bars it had smoked lens and not covers. Waited for a month for an answer they were working on it. Then they finally refunded me they said it would cost too much to make. I found some generic covers online that barley fits but it's covers. But they did say when the new style light bars come out they may make covers for them.

Moved my most front bar back last night, sound seems to have dropped a bit on the way to work. Will see what it's like @ 110-120 this afternoon.

I wanted to give some feedback so no one else waist any money trying this method to silence the noise. First off I wanted to say the noise never did bother me but I thought if I could silence it that would be great.

I bought a sheet of black PVC 1/4" thick. Cut to inside dimension of rack. A 5" bend in the front @ 35 degrees to tuck behind deflector. Bolted it down looked great but did absolutely nothing for noise. I may play around with the front deflector (move up/down) and see if that makes any difference. I think with a different deflector design it may have helped.

This will still come in handy. It snows a lot here and I hate when the snow piles up in between the racks and developers a ice cube then slides around for months (think positive). :)

This was nothing more than a heads up so no one else waist there money. The whole project was about $100.00 (bought a 4x8 sheet) and did nothing to prevent wind noise.

    Sorry for the crapy pictures....

    R&D is never cheap...

i would be curious what would change if you mounted it to the underside of the rack. might change the airflow enough one way or another.

I wonder is isolating the rack from the cab with some sort of rubber bushing helps. Curious if some of the wind noise is actually resonance within the material and migrating through cab. Has someone tried taping off the void between the deflector and roof line? Eliminates the possibility of wind coming through the underside as a source of noise ?

I sound deadened my roof. I wonder if that's enough to reduce noise. I guess I'll have to buy the rack now...

You should have bought the rack first. Get a baseline on noise. Then deadened. And report back. :p

Gotta say, simply moving the most-front bar back has made a dramatic difference. Still some wind noise, which I may be able to address by changing the height of the deflector, but dramatically less. Radio has been kept below 30 for the last while. Haven't had a big cross wind yet, but definitely better.

    Not enough...
This is actually my next step. Once the light and deflector come in I will put the rack back on, but this time it will be

Bolt - Lock washer - Fender Washer - Rubber washer - RACK - Rubber washer - Fender washer - Raiser - Rubber washer - Cab.

I have been playing with a bunch of stuff as far as wind noise testing different deflectors on my truck with and without lightbars to try and get a better idea all around of what some of the extreme cases may be caused by. I should have some good info to report back but so far I haven't experienced any major differences.

I have tried a rubber washer, not for noise reasons but for sealing purposes. No significant difference for me on either front. I never have had water issues but wanted to try it anyway.
