ICON 1.5 progressive AAL

Need advice from you guys in here. I recently had a shop install some Bilsteins up front paired with a set of Toytec/Eibach springs, and now it sits higher up front. Here are some pics of before and after:


I was recommended this AAL: http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/ICON-15-inch-Progressive-AAL_p_970.html paired with Bilstein 5100's in the rear.

My question is how many hours of labor am I looking at?

Took me about 3-4 hours. But my stands were too short to fully droop the leaves to be able to separate from the centering pin. If you have adequate stands, 2 hours max.

 

Good to know, but I will most likely have a shop tackle the job LOL. I was recommended a pretty reputable shop not to far from me that only deals with Toyota's and they did the front install.

 

Yea, 2 hours tops. I think I did mine in about 1.5 hrs. By the way, wheelers makes the same product for less money. Just an idea.

Took me about 3 hours to do that same job in my driveway. One trick is to start spraying the bolts with PB blaster or Liquid Wrench a few days in advance. Made the removal a whole lot easier, no broken parts.

I've had the Wheeler's progressive AAL for 4 years and it has done a good job.

Also if Anyone could chime in. In regards to the 5100's Ive seen there are 2 different types? one type for stock height I assume and one type for "lifted". is this accurate?

 

The shorter is for stock height to 2" lift. The extended in for greater than 2", If I recall correctly. The standard length works fine with that AAL.

 

My 5100's are the standard length with the Wheeler's 3 leaf AAL. No issues at all.

Good to know, I will use this info moving forward. Id hate to use a block in the rear for the time being. I just hate the look right now LOL

 

Here's how mine looked before installing the AAL. The parking lot has a slight downward slope to the right but you get the feel for the FR to RR difference.

The Icon 3 leaf AAL is a very easy install, there isn't need to pay a professional if you are comfortable doing basic work on your truck. The only thing to remember is to put the longer side of the leaf to the rear. It just requires large jack stands (6 ton) for height to support the frame so the spring can droop and cutting the leaf alignment center pin (a small bolt which you could do with a dremel). I did mine in a couple hours. Everything else is basic hand tools.
