So what does this mean? You're going to do a 15?

    lol..

idk. If they can give me a good deal on one with a blower I might.. best of both worlds that way I guess.

I do love everything else about the new tacos tho.. and if i have the option to get a 16 taco.. why would i get a 15.. thats essentially the same truck for the last 10 years..

Just say this to yourself.. Paid off in 8k! vs another 72 months at a higher payment. Not to mention insurance on a brand new vehicle will likely be a bit more, so something else to factor into the financial equation. Shiny new things with fluffy features can certainly be intriguing, but so is the piece of mind in having a paid off vehicle. It's really a matter of what you value most. I totally understand where you are coming from, and the idea of a hassle free vehicle is awesome. But, your mod list isn't that long or too expensive compared to a new truck.. Anyhow, just my .02 cents. You gotta do what makes most sense to you.

I changed a few things on mine and took it off the market. Sure there are things I'm unhappy with, but those will be changed at a later date. For now, it's a truck I still enjoy driving, even if it randomly hates me, like today when I found a leak in my clutch master cylinder. Is it sad I keep a spare clutch master in my toolbox? To some people yes. But it's a 30 minute job tops and it's still fun to wrench on. I promise if you change a few small things on the interior of yours, it'll be a whole new truck. All I changed was my head unit, and I loved it again. Planning on picking up some Corbeau's in December and I'm sure I'll like it even more then.

How boring would my life be if everything worked?

My passenger firewall is tubbed and the driver side isn't. I actually die a little on the inside every time it rubs. Including purchase price, there's nearly $60,000 in my 4Runner excluding gas of course.

These are all things I've accepted in order to be part of this hobby haha

You've been back and forth on this for weeks with no decision. I'm beginning to think you won't be happy either way and maybe you should buy a Subaru.

I've learned a lot from experience, and these days cash in the bank is very valuable to me. I HATE payments, and totally understand expensive hobbies. Mountain biking is ridiculous, between two new carbon fiber bikes this year, and at least half a dozen bike trips, I don't even want to know how much i've sunk into it this year. Point is, I have limited debt, house and a few grand on the truck, so that frees up a lot of cash to do what I want and not be chained to my "things".. My brother owns a very successful financial services company, so I have the benefit of free financial advice and planning. Something I am extremely grateful for.

As for fixing/changing your truck, you have this entire community that I am sure is willing to help, and like I said, what you are looking to do is pretty simple and wont lock in you in for another 72 months of payments.

I can appreciate that. Heck, that's where I was when I traded my 05 for my 12. Bought the best mods possible for the 12 and it's been 100% trouble free. That said, my 05 was paid off, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't regret taking on a payment.

So, best way to do this is to map out the long term financial commitment here. It sounds like the payment is going to be $190 dollars more per month, right? So an additional $2,280 per year for the next 6 years, totaling $13,680 bucks on top of what you already pay for your current truck. What will it cost to make the changes to your truck? Add those costs to the 8k you currently owe, and see what the long term savings will be. What can you do with those savings? How will the savings benefit you vs. how the new truck will benefit you? Is financial piece of mind more important than a brand new truck?

Just play devils advocate here. Try taking emotion out of the equation and look at the numbers. If you can get your current truck paid off in the next two years, just think of the money you can save in the long run.
