Can anyone provide any feedback on using 17x9 wheels on a 2007 TRD Tacoma with no lift? Will they rub and if so, how bad? Any solutions to this short of lifting the truck?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on the size of the tire, not the wheel

I get that, but the width of the rim also has an effect on how wide of a tire is needed to fit the rim. Just looking for any input from someone running 17x9 rims on a stock height. What size tire is a good choice? and any issues with them.

    Thanks for the input!

Might want to look into a 17x8. To my knowledge most who run 17x9 wheels run 285/70/17 tires with a lift. Now if you don't want to lift you should go with 17x8 wheel or just stay stock and run a 265/70/17 tire.

It will all depend on what size tire you end up running.

I am running 17x9 rims on an 07 stock with 265/70/17....

Moto Metal 957B with Nitto Terra Grapplers

I had minor rubbing on full turns or turning and going over a bump, like into the driveway or U turns..I did some minor trimming on the inner fender area and no more rubbing. I drove for about 10 months before trimming, so it is not a major issue and it doesn't cause a problem with normal day to day driving.

Some tire manufactures only offer certain sizes for a 9" rim and some tire shops won't install a tire on the rim if the manufacturer doesn't say it fits a 9" rim. 265/70/17 is the biggest you can go without a lift, so check the specs of whatever tire you want to use also.

I was answering for the OP with an 07 and I have an 07...I have no experience with the 1st gens, so I'm not sure what the max size is for those.
