My 2010 TRD Sport was totaled by a kid on his phone, so I'm trading in a VERY generous settlement check from insurance.

No offense to anyone, but why in the heck are a lot of you guys trading 1 - 3 year old or even less Tacoma's with super low miles in on the 2016? You're going to take a hit no matter how you slice it, especially buying as soon as the '16's come out. I mean more power to you for doing whatever floats your boat, just trying to get a little insight into the mentality that's all. I LOVE my 2014 and will drive it for as long as possible.

It's America and there's now 84 months financing? I mean what could possibly go wrong?

I may be viewed as a bad person for saying this, but I'm starting to lean towards getting a 2015 (lower cost, know what I'm getting). I rushed into buying mine two years ago and really regret not going with a standard. I did the math, and actually don't come out to bad for payments/length of payment if I trade in.

I agree with this. If I bought a Tacoma within the past 3 years, I would not be trading it in now. My situation is different. I have a truck with 180k miles on it. I have to get a new vehicle. My only decision was between the 2015 and the 2016. Decided on the 2016 because of the interior improvements and the fuel mileage improvements. The cosmetic things that everyone is crying about can be changed afterwards.

I should keep the '16 for at least 10 years and like the improvements they have made. I'm going to take a beating now but in a year I won't even care, it's water under the bridge for me. When I bought the 2014 I decided to keep my 2003 because I liked driving it better then the new '14. That and I wanted to keep miles down on the new truck and only drive it on the weekends, plus my line of work and really f* up a new vehicle. Soon after I bought I started reading about the '16 and have been ready since January to get something I really liked, not just liked.

Plenty of 2015s still here in NC if you're interested in one.

Fair enough guys, I understand everyone has their own reasons and in the end if it makes you happy go for it. I traded my 2011 with 40k miles in on my 2014 Baja. My 2011 was an I4 with no power, AC Cab and a stick. I'd been driving sticks for about 15 years straight and the way the Taco interior is laid out vs. my height I was having to bend my foot in an awkward position to shift gears. Couple that with some of the worst stop and go traffic in the nation and I started having foot issues. Found out that 2014 was the last year of the Baja's so I made the plunge into an Auto DC V6. Got what I wanted, now I'm happy and hope I can now get some ROI on this bad boy.

Honestly, I'm still going back and forth with this. I had plans to preorder, but now I think I need to wait until I can see/touch/test drive both side by side. My dealer here had about 15 2015s two weeks ago, but you may be right about the 6MTs being gone for good.

The problem with buying used tacomas up here is it generally costs as much or more than new after financing.

It might just kill me to wait.

It was a small lapse of judgement. I'm back on the 2016 bandwagon now.

My 250 is 14 years old with 200k miles. I've never needed a tow/ride. Truck is a MoFo beast!

My truck also still exists. Not all Taco or *cough* Ram owners can say the same with all their rust.

    No car maker is perfect.

2014 Toyota Tundra Platinum 4x4. Lol. Maybe, I love my truck but $400 a month in gas isn't cutting it. Biggest issues I am having are:
    1. I am 6'2", its a snug fit in the Tacoma.
    2. I haul a 60lb female German Shepherd around all the time, again a snug fit. Although I am considering a Camper Shell which would give her more room than she has in the back seat of the Tundra.

I went and sat in a Sport yesterday, I was impressed with all the features. But It was a bit snug, like I said.

But the savings equates to about $250 a month, which is a decent chunk of change.

I don't tow anything at the moment, so there's no need for the V8, although I do love that 5.7L, it will giddy up.

I still haven't made up my mind...

1999 Tacoma Prerunner Xtracab V6 TRD OR with 200K. Haggling now, but expect to get between $3000-3500. If not, I will sell private. Has some cosmetic issues, otherwise I would be looking at ~$4k.

I am curious what the dealers are giving for trade in on fairly current Tacoma's. I recently sold my 2008 Sport TRD Silver AC all stock with 59k miles for $23,200 in anticipation of moving into a new Taco. I sold it private party in Anchorage where vehicles are generally expensive because of shipping. I had purchased it in 2010 used for 20k so that was not too shabby...

I was offered $21,000 for my 2010 Tacoma Double Cab, TRD Off Road with 74,000 miles here in Albuquerque, NM.
