First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
I'm keeping my 2nd Gen. Love it!!! I had the 1988 Toyota pickup, purchased new. Great truck. Skipped the 1st Gen Tacoma. Glad I did, whew. Picked up an 07 new and love it. Got it. LOVE IT!!! So the 3rd gen looks like a worthy update for folks new to Tacoma. But that engine is really extreme tech and a blend of two technologies so expect some issues. Otherwise it's a very minor upgrade.

Now I'm not against you spending your money. Go for it. I love to read about your woes :) I need to monetize an ROI on my expenditures and that is one reason I like Toyota, can get 15 to 20 years on my truck and still resell it for 3-4K. That's about $175 a month for cost of ownership. THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT for owning a Toyota. Better resale, better maintenance, better overall ownership experience.

Seems odd to bash folks that like to keep their older Tacoma. Go ahead and get a 3rd gen Tacoma 3rdgenfan. Go for it! I applaud your choice and welcome your feedback and insight on ownership. I hope it is so much more awesome then my paid for 2nd gen. I'll tell you how the 4th gen is when it comes out buddy.

Fair enough. Would already having projectors make an HID conversion easier?

I think so... A lot of people will probably just add HID bulbs and ballasts but the halogen projectors still won't reflect the light correctly off of a HID bulb. I would imagine it would be easier to replace the projector with an HID projector rather than having to add a projector to a reflector housing.

Well....No good reason why I should walk past this pissing contest without shooting my own stream!

A.) I still like my 2011 Taco. There has been a number of "updates", changes, and improvements since 2011......But my truck is everything I liked about it when I bought it, and there was no reason to spend MORE money to get something I may or may NOT have liked as much.

B.) After repeatedly looking at pictures of the new Taco, and having one opportunity (yesterday) to see a 2016 Taco, I'm more convinced than ever before that I'm sticking with my current ride. Maybe the new look will grow on me.....Maybe not.....But at any rate, I'm definitely NOT falling in love with some of the new "looks". Kinda bulky and clumsy looking to me.....YMMV. If "you" (ie NOT me) likes the looks, or sees something they find irresistible in the 2016's, GO FOR IT. No one says MY opinion is important to anyone except me. I've spent a fair amount of time developing a "look" for my 2011. Now that I'm ALMOST there, why punt and start all over again?

C.) By expressing my apparent dislike for the new Tacoma, I have the opportunity to be heckled and insulted by the never ending list of know-it-alls who obviously believe THEIR opinion carries more than one vote. ;)

    Bluegrass,

What you are referring to is the truth: it's ones opinion about the truck, and where you are coming from. All these complaints about "doesn't have the latest technology headlights," "not as good as my 2014," etc, are very important to some, but are practically useless to me. I'm coming from never having owned a truck, not wanting a full size under any circumstances, and having a car of 1998 vintage with regular old fluorescent head lights. To me, having any of these newer things in the truck are a huge bonus, even if they are not the latest and greatest. Dismissing the entire truck as being bogus because it doesn't measure to one person's expectations is ridiculous.

The fact that you dislike it is a very important opinion. You seem to realize that others might see the truck in a different light...which many others here seem to be unable to do.

Well dang! You weren't supposed to AGREE with me! ;) Where's the fun in THAT?

    Just jokin'....

Yep. Too many people see things through their eyes only. I'm not knocking the truck. It's just not to MY liking. I hope it turns out to be the greatest thing Toyota has ever built. But, bottom line is, I just don't see myself needing or wanting anything different that what I already have. I'm not easy to satisfy, but once I find something I DO like, I'm loyal to the bitter end. Case closed.

I don't agree. I had a 15 and see a whole lot more truck for the difference I am paying between the two TRD Sports ($6000 Net)

For that I am getting, Qi Charging, Moonroof, All the Nanny tech, JBL system Entune Premium, ( i did not have the woofer and after hearing a 15 WIth the woofer I decided it was worth the money) Navigation, Better fuel economy, newer engine, transmission, FAR better and locking rear gate, Far far better interior and instrumentation , What am I missing...I think I covered my $6000 easily.

Can I weigh in here? I really, really like the new Tacoma...a lot. But you know what...I really, really like my '13 PreRunner...a lot. If I had the money, I'd own them both, so there!
