And just how do you know it has the same issues as the 1st and 2nd gen?

Everything I wasn't crazy about with my 2nd gen has been addressed in the 3rd gen.
I wanted more MPG, a locking tailgate, a quieter cab and more horsepower. Check, check, check and check.

On paper it's just what I want.
If you haven't driven both a 2nd and 3rd gen, you're useless to me.
If you haven't owned a 3rd gen for 3 years, how can you possible say it has the "same issues"?

Drove a 2016 DCSB sport last night. I didn't feel like the engine was sluggish or underpowered at all. Now, I currently drive an E90 M3. The Tacoma didn't feel like the M3 by any means but it got up to speed nicely and didn't seem as if it was working to hard.

2005-2015, the same frame being recalled for rusting out. My point is I love my truck, but you can't honestly say that Toyota hasn't neglected to address issues on our trucks. I'd much rather have a solid frame that won't rust out than a tailgate lock, but that's just me. A 2016 vehicle doesn't have 4 wheel disc? That's just ridiculous. Everyone can defensive all they want, but my question is why does everyone not deserve a better quality built truck?

Disagree completely. Technology significantly increases quality. Don't believe me? Look at an accident of a 1950s vehicle vs one today. Look at fuel efficiency, reliability, etc etc etc.

Or while we're on topic. Brake distances and fade of a 1950s car with drum brakes vs. a modern car with 4 discs all around.....or a 2016 with drums while we're on topic.

2015 Colorado Braking, 70-0 mph: 174 ft
2015 Tacoma Braking, 70-0 mph: 200 ft

 

You know your saying the 2nd gen is not of good quality.

For some us blessed to live in the southwest, we don't have the rust issue. Can you prove that the "same frame" does not have better rust proofing done? It may be same design, but noted you ignore the added steel reinforcement. Have not had the drive line vibration issue either. I am not even going to address the disc brake issue.

Got to ask have you driven a 2016 yet? I will say I have not. I will reserve comment on its stopping performance, etc. until I have.

 

Same year to same year and unless I'm mistaken, the drum brakes remain on the 2016 Tacoma

 

Haha, you're right we'll see. I'd also like to see a fade test under duress. Unlike you guys, I drive mostly freeway on a daily basis.....not 1-5mph through the woods.

 

Well they produced top of the line results... You might not like them but they perform as well, if not better than discs. Sorry to burst your little disc brake bubble.

 

Have to ask since your profile does not show it. Do you own a Tacoma? If so , what year/model?
The reason I ask, if you own a 2nd Gen Tacoma, do you feel it is unsafe to drive due to not having 4 disc brakes?
