nice man! Did you get high centered in that hole? Looked nasty. That happened to me at croom and the strap @Timbo89 had broke twice. Third time was a charm lol

I don't know exactly if I would say that I got high centered but essentially yes. The ruts in that little canyon were too deep and we new it. We usually go on a side wall there and in between the ruts. We had never done it full of water like that tho but basically I fell of the side wall a straight up fell onto skid and back axel. Utterly screwing myself. It's a fun place tho

things I learned at croom yesterday

    1) wheeling alone is an adrenaline rush, but never ends well.....(when will I learn)

    2) people in the country are awesome.....4 hours, 3 jeeps, 2 1 ton trucks, 2 broken straps and 1 broken cable later....I finally got out....and no one seemed rushed about it

    3) a big thick high end snatch strap is worth it weight in gold....go buy one

    4) I should have put in that rear locker when I had my diff open to put the 4.88's in

    5) time for a winch, and probably a receiver for the front of the truck as well

    6) things are Always more fun when they don't quite go according to plan

@Rattletrap66 @1stgen You know how we ended up getting frank out by pulling him sideways and back instead of straight and from the front. I was trying to explain this to someone on facebook and he got smart with me about it saying the recovery experts are coming out now. It works. broke the strap 3 times I think it was and we were almost screwed until someone could come out.

I just picked up a ARB 17000lb snatch strap on ebay for 60 bucks. If I might suggest......all the straps we had were 30 foot.....I didn't end up getting out until a guy showed up with a 45 foot snatch strap that allowed the tow to be far enough away to get out of the soft ground. So, to be the guy that saves the day in that one-off situation, a 45 footer might not be a bad idea, since most folks are carrying 30 foot straps.

I'd just like to point out that this should only be a last resort if ever, and then only if you don't need to yank hard. If one of the straps break you now have a few pounds of steel projectile flying toward one of the trucks...or worse, someone's head.

If the situation is that desperate, just loop the straps together. It's a pain in the ass to get them apart again, but it's not nearly as dangerous.

As far as length, I'm pretty sure my big strap is 30' as well as my back-up (the same size as Frank's new one). Even though the big one looks like it could break at any moment, it's never let me down so far.
