Why I won't be "upgrading" to a 3rd Gen.

You have a good looking truck now, I don't see much reason for you to get a 3rd gen.

    Thanks for the post.

Why I will not be getting a 3rd Gen:

    • EPA MPG estimates do royally suck
    • The price: You have got to be kidding me on the price, a MIDSIZE is so not worth that
    • Lack of usable features (LED lights around the truck and bed lighting, power seats :)deadhorse:), leather options on more than the limited, adaptable cruise etc.)
    • Adding incredibly stupid features and then price gouging (Push Starts and Qi charging).
    • An incredibly UGLY interior with the worst seat designs and color choices
Other reasons that aren't bashing the Taco:
    • Towing abilities - capacity is large but the engine is small and will struggle under heavy loads
    • Bed is too small for hauling a lot of large items - even the long bed (bed depth)
    • Interior space - this is a road trip vehicle that will regularly carry 3-5 people.
This would have made a wonderful toy, and may be a consideration in the future. Right now the sacrifices when going from full-sized to mid just aren't worth it to me when considering over all price and features. I may custom order a 2016 F150 XLT Super Crew Sport next year, and I bet I can beat the price on a TRD Sport 3rd Gen Taco.

I am still very excited to see the 3rd Gen come out and go look and take a test drive. I'm also interested in how it performs in the real world. I hope those who get one are very happy. I just decided it wasn't enough truck for me considering what I am paying for. My needs just exceed a mid-sized and that isn't the Taco's fault. So while I do mean to vent, I don't mean to completely Taco bash. It's a great truck for those willing to pay that price tag.

A 7 yo truck with 108k for that money (even if it's realistic) would be about as ludicrous as the pricing on the new ones in my accounting ledger.

So I really don't care and will make my own decision to buy in a few years. There will be plenty of experienced owners by then.

I never owned a 1st generation and wasn't a member of this forum until 2010. Did 1st generation owners get all wound up over the differences in the 2nd generation?

Can mods just start deleting these BS threads. I mean, who gives a flying F why you choose not to buy a new one?

This. Some people have big enough egos to actually think people who live across the country give a shit why they did not like the gen 3.

It's a forum. People like to express their opinion or give their 2 cents just like you did with your post and just like I did by posting this.

So whether they love or hate the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gens, they are allowed to do so.

I hoped Toyota would really step up to the plate with the GEN3 Tacoma, mainly in the engine department, and I was pretty "disappointed" too. I say "disappointed" because I bought my 2014 Tacoma with no intentions of buying another mid-size truck, I like it a lot, and I'm plan to keep it until the wheels fall off. I kicked around the idea of holding out for the 2016 and all I can say is I'm glad that I didn't. It looks like a great truck, but far from an earth-shattering leap forward.

This forum wasn't around until after the 2nd gen was out. But the answer is still yes. See the quoted post.

Maybe you should just be able to delete anything on this public forum you don't like. Would that make you happier?

Seriously, this forum is specifically here for people to voice their opinion, share stories and projects, and just talk to others who have the same interests. Give it a rest already!

I won't be buying one until the issues are worked out and for all we know it could be vastly reworked with a new ranger and the chicken tax being repealed.

I've got a great solution for you! Put everyone you don't agree with on ignore. It might take you a couple of months but I think in the long run it will be worth it to you. You can start with me.

It's funny to see people continually bashing the OP on his opinion/thread.. Cussing him out or saying Mods should delete t/his thread... If anything should be deleted it should be all your TW accounts, mouth fingers of heated flatulence.. Bunch of whinning fart jazzles, nothing better to do than finger turd his thread.. You should all be ashamed of your elementary recess behavior.. You fart flingers.
So take your spirit of fart fingers

And go milk your throbbing prostates.

If you can find a low miles 2005-2006 Gen1 Tundra Access Cab you'll be better off than buying a 2016 Tacoma and save yourself about $20,000. I wish you the best of luck finding a low miles one, but they're good for 400,000 miles.
