I do love my Western Mountaineering bag! I have the 32 degree one and it has kept me warm even when going under those temps. A bit bigger bag could be nice as she could keep the next days clothes in the bag with her. Much nicer waking up to warm socks than cold ones!

As others mentioned a good ground pad is key as is layering for sleeping.

Hmmmm... can't say I'm sold for $299. I guess I just don't mind being a dirty, simple camper. The thought of making the area on the side of my truck all muddy just to clean off seems like I'm actually making a bigger mess. I guess if I was going to be camping for more than 4-5 days, this would feel pretty nice though.

I like your idea of adding a longer hose to it so you can be further from your truck when using it. Would sure help minimize the muddy mess around the vehicle.

I'll keep sticking to my whore baths for now, but thanks for the gear idea.

Check out the gravity shower setups. I bring one with me all the time. In the sun it'll make the water warm.

But I use it more as a hand wash station. It's great being able to wash your hands or anything super quick. But also have the ability to shower if needed

Just made it back home from a week long trek! I walked out today 14 miles and put on another 30 or so through the backcountry.

Very well could be? It's Eklutna Lake and you can drive too it. It's where I started hiking from.

I'm digging that tent though. What's the pack weight on that model with rainfly?

Very nice. You got the 3 season version then. That's the one I was looking at for saving over a pound over the 4 season one. $100 more, but I loooove saving ounces. Looks like a perfect design for the solo camper. Enough vestibule space for your shoes/pack, and enough cabin space and ventilation.

Well, there goes a bite out of my camping savings fund!

Do you carry a bear canister when you're in the back woods of Alaska? I figure it's not required, like in Yosemite, but I'm curious what your thoughts are on having one. I hauled a BV450 with me through Yosemite and it did well, but it adds an extra 3# to the pack but sure does add peace of mind at night.
