Noob here. Anyone else on this site from Lousyana?
Came here to procure info on the 3rdGen (positive and negative). Had a 1st gen back in '99 but traded it in for another 'Yota (4-Runner). Tundra now and considering another Taco or Tundra.
    Have a great weekend!!

Plenty of 'em, i'll say that. One of the nearby Yota dealers has Marsh and Bayou Tundras for sale with 6" installed ProComp lift, etc. I inquired about it today, in fact. Curiosity got the better of me...

    Geaux Tigers!

New Tundra's ride great and have lots of power, but they drink a LOT of fuel.

Tacomas are great with a V6

Was checking in on availability (locally) as well as impression of members upon test drives/purchases and which dealers are working with customers, if any. Giving considerable thought to the G3 Taco but the Tundra is still lurking.
I have a '10 Tundra CMax (4.6L) and I avg about 18 mpg. I'm pleased with this. I had an '08 Tundra CMax (5.7L) and averaged about 16 mpg.
The G3 Taco is mighty appealing but the Tundras are damn near equitable in price.
I'm an information hound so I take everything I can get, not as gospel, but with my own research, etc.

I put $500 down for them to order the truck, but unfortunately we haven't sat down and talked numbers at all. I will say that I am hoping to have an OTD price of about 35-37 with a loan of 30-32. No dealers around the area know anything about the truck, truth be told. I will say don't buy from Team Toyota on ONeal Lane...The guy was a complete dick during my test drive. He was really good at memorizing the brochure, but thats about it. If you are looking to test drive, as of yesterday (9/11) there was only 1 at price leblanc, a AC TRD OR 4X4 w/ Premium technology pkg (w/o JBL). I was told that it was their fleet rental vehicle, so they can't sell it, but let me drive it anyway.

Here is the review I posted in another thread:

Alright, I went today and test drove two 2016 AC TRD OR 4X4s and a 2015 SR5 DC for comparison. First off, it should be noted that I drive a 2001 camry (2.2L) with a suspension that is almost completely shot, so of course anything is better. So here we go:

I do have a Blazing Blue DCSB Limited 4X4 on order, but wanted to test drive what ever i could, so i went to the dealer next to my apt. Of course the dealer came out spitting out all the new features and improvements. Of course i already knew everything and more than he ever could thanks to TW. But, once my friend accidentally let it slip that I had already ordered the truck from someone else, the dealer became a complete ass and it really ruined the first impressions of the truck. It felt like it had no power when i pressed the gas, i thought it accelerated as slow as my camry, but then i tried it again hitting the power band, and it was MUCH better, I also wasn't super impressed with the ride, but that could be because it wasn't broken in yet. Overall my first impression left me unimpressed overall, and i just couldn't believe it, and the guy was an ass so I didn't get to really test it or play with other things, so I decided to go to the dealership that i ordered my truck from.

The second impression was MUCH MUCH better. I noticed a lot more power, though I have to agree with others that the engine did seem like it was not at ease under normal driving, but it really wasn't horrible either, certainly not trying as hard as my 4 cyl. I also noticed that it had more power at higher speeds rather than lower speeds. I did press the ECT PWR button , and it was a world of difference in power. With the button engaged, there was SO MUCH more acceleration. I also noticed that I never felt the transmission shifting, it felt seamless. In comparison, I felt the 4.0L had no struggle and actually ran smoother than the 3.5L, and always had power.

The ride was about the same as the 1st test drive, but very quiet. I didn't hear a lot of road noise. The handling was good, It didn't feel too wishy washy in turns. I did notice the steering wheel was stiffer in the 2016 than the 2015. Not so much in amount of play, just in how easy it is to turn the wheel.

The seats: Coming from a sedan, I had no problems with the seat height, I (5'10") felt the seat was at the perfect height to see the front of the truck and it was quite supportive. In comparison to the 2015, I found the 2015 seats softer, but I feel like the 2015 would have been more uncomfortable on longer trips.

All in all, after the second test drive, I definitely liked the 2016 and will be getting it b/c of all the extra amenities it comes with over the 2015, but I will say that I also really enjoyed the ride and power of the 2015
