    In my pic of the filler tube that line that is on the right just acts as a breather and I was going to go that route but it was small compared to the line out of the suburban pump so I opted not to do it. Didn't want the stock tank venting to be too altered as well. I'm happy with my choice and with a welder set up correctly it was pretty easy to weld on with out burning through the thin metal. There are many ways to achieve the same end goal it's all a matter of willingness to take on the project. That's why I joined and added this info to give ppl a reference and a cheaper option than the custom fuel cells that companies can offer that seem too overpriced for what you get. Have a friend with an FJ that said he can get a bigger tank for $1000 that only gives him 3 extra gallons over the stock tank. Just doesn't seem worth it to me.

    $1000 makes it not worth it to me too.
    I'm going the 19 gallon F150 route myself. I'm in the phase where I'm sorting out the details.
    Your thread and discussion have been immensely helpful. I cannot thank you enough for sharing and taking so many pics.

    Good to hear man, I think you will find it's not too hard to accomplish. Wished I had welded my brackets in a way that I could of bolted it to the frame instead of welding straight to the frame. Other than that it's holding up fine and works when I hit the switch. I usually transfer fuel parked so I can crack both gas caps to allow better airflow. Good luck, I will do my best to field questions if you have more.

    So I think my syphon issue may be caused by the stock tank's EVAP system when it goes into vacuum. Doesn't seem to draw that much fuel that I need to be concerned about it overfilling itself, but it's something to keep in mind if you chose to do a similar project.

    Good to know. Did you put a check valve in?

    I have not. Not worried enough to take the bed back off to put one in. I'm going to wait till I do my rear bumper and redo my mounting all at once

    Hey BossFoss, it looks like I'll need to dump my exhaust as well. Have you noticed any sound difference with the dumped exhaust?

    Nice man. Have to let me know she fits. Originally I had cut right behind the muffler and just angled it down. I didn't notice too much noise difference. There was a little more due to the sound bouncing off the ground instead of out the back. Right now I have it cut behind the cats because I was curious what it would sound like with no muffler. I like it for just running around but long highway trips it's annoying. Sorry for the delay haven't checked in awhile

    I'm going to try and have it cut off this weekend and have a down turn welded on. I gotta take the truck in for an oil change and alignment. I've got most the parts. Just a couple more things. I cleaned up the tank, tested it...it works. Bought the stock hanger straps, bought a fuel guage, installed a momentary switch to activate the tanks pump, soldered a copper pipe for the main tank-aux tank junction. I'm so looking forward to completing this project. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1430880193.617415.jpg

    @BossFoss - How's your tank holding up?

    If all goes well I'll have mine installed this weekend.

    It's holding up well so far. I have no issues to complain about. I've done some pretty rocky trails since installing and haven't had any clearance issues. Post it up when your done, I'm curious to see how the ford tank fits

    It fits with just a little clearance. If I tucked up high onto the bottom of the bed it would interfere with the driver side shock and and the leaf spring shackles so we had to lower it down a few inches.

    When I take the bed off to finish painting I'll take some better pictures.

    Nice work! Looks like a good fit man. Can't wait to see more pics. Hope it works out and doesn't give you any issues.

    Does anyone know if there is a smaller tank that would also mount like this? I am going to need one like this since I'm 4 linking the rear.

    One way I researched dimensions is I went onto jegs and JC whitney and searched fuel tanks. This will also tell you what side the fuller neck is on etc.

    You'll probably have several options. I can tell you the 1990 ford F 150 is a tight fit.
