    whats up fellers,

I have had my leased Camry for about 6 weeks and to my surprise its at the dealer for major interior rattles. Since I own a 01 tacoma with 220k thats still as good as new I was not expecting this to happen. Toyota wanted me to pay for a rental car, but after an aggressive conversation they finally covered it. I had to go on a test drive with the shop foreman because they said they couldn't reproduce the sound, but after showing them camera footage and a 45 minute test drive, they acknowledged that there was a prominent rattling. They said they are going to call in an engineer. The car already has lots of scratches in the interior and only gets 26.5 mpg highway, significantly lower than the 35 mpg rating. I have lost my confidence in toyota.

Surprised the infamous Tacoma rattles haven't scared you away any sooner.

Had a 04 Camry a while back and that car was every thing I needed it to be.

I've never heard about tacoma rattles nor does my tacoma make any type of rattling noise. But even if it did, I'd expect that with a 14 year old truck with over 200k anyways. A brand new car should not be rattling before its first oil change. The infotainment system sometimes squeaks as well, but because that happens few and far between, I did not bring it up. It's a shame because that car drives so smooth and quiet until the damn seat starts to rattle, drives me nuts.

Yes, 2.5 SE model. I think the law says they have 3 chances to fix it. The six speed auto sucks too.

I take a rattle over a leaking/ breaking pos any time. Toyotas are harsh, rattle and and not refined much...but the main components work fine

My folks bought a 4-cyl Corolla base model a while back. The thing only got 16 mpg and after a few trips to the dealership to fix it, they ended up selling it.

    The better coast
My civic has a few things that are few and far in between the dealership never believes me.

I recorded some funny window sounds that wouldn't always happen which got them to replace it.

Yup, I have the Corolla as a rental right now and the fuel needle drops like a hummer.

It just doesn't happen enough that will allow me to get it on video. When the engineer gets here I will mention it to him.

If you want a well built camry you need to buy a lexus. That seems to be where Toyota focuses on the finer details.

My 2002 es300 and 2009 is250 go down the road with no rattles (for what it's worth the dealer rebuilt the motor under warranty on the is250 due to defective piston rings)

I miss my 2007 is250, put 90,000 miles on it in 3yrs. Only issue was the brake dust from the brake pads and they had to do some work on the heads after it threw a code after a hard start ($3500 covered by warranty). I enjoyed fucking with the dealership with warranty claims, because they showed me no respect ( I was 23 at the time). I miss the loaner cars, I drove to vegas at least twice with a loaner.

I'm pretty sure "the lemon law" applies to mechanical issues, not cosmetic. If they don't fix it in a timely manner contact toyota corporate, if you complain enough they might end up just wanting to make you happy.

One of my ex girlfriends had a 2009 corolla on lease. It got worse mileage than my car at the time with 60 more HP wnd AWD (a Nissan Juke) and it made terrible noises on cold starts. It was a S model and I think it was worth nearly 25k CAD new to buy which is why she ended up leasing it. Sad thing is she had to wait three years to get rid of it, though I don't think it had any major mechanical faults over that timespan.

^That generation Corolla platform dated back to 2000. So it's unrefined by today's standards but will keep running like a zombie.
