Well no wonder I can't fix my cupping issue. I can wear em smooth (and out) fast enough on the rear of the truck though once I get this fixed.

They lasted just shy of 2 years, this is just one side, drivers, other side seemed fine, couldn't get any play.

To be fair, I'm hard on shit and while they are their redesigned bushings they're not spec ride. The first set lasted 8 months lol.

 

get the new bushings. so nice. i completely tore the inner sleeve out of mine a little over a year ago.....

Well..

Which way does the line on the pivot sleeves go (I only have one line)?! I put them facing outwards. No idea...

It took me all of 10 minutes to get the UCA out.

Took me a long as time to get that old bushing out.

Took me no time at all to get it all back together and in.

Stupid shitty old bushing.

 

I also packed the ball joint with some moly grease, the amount of factory grease in there was overwhelming... (not) but at least it was clean and no play in the joint.

Only did one side.

 

I encountered the same exact thing. i replaced the uca bushings with the new spec ride ones and within a couple miles i heard the squeak again. how crappy. i wonder if it is because i tourqed the nut while the truck was on the lift? anyone have an idea?

 

Did you use the supplied grease ?

Did you put grease on the sides of the bushings, where they ride against the washers? I have installed these myself, and have not had any issues.

 

i did not. i could have sworn the directions stated to wipe excess grease away but after looking again i see that i am wrong. if i loosed the nut and would silicone aerosole grease do the trick?

 

i just noticed that my spec-ride bushings are tappered on the inner lip. all of your guys pics dont have a the tapper. could they have sent be the spec ride bushings for another toyota? i cant find any good pics of other toyota spec ride bushing to compare mine to.

 

i think ive found my issue. my ball joints a making the noise not the new spec ride bushings. probably just need to buy the spc tool to separate the joints then clean and re grease them. anyone know if moly is ok to use on ball joints instead of regular chassis grease?

 

Sorry to resurrect an old thread.

My new bushings are in. I need to remove the old ones. Can I simply drill them out? I have the typical drill bits, and some hole saw bits. I'm still working on my tool collection, so a drill is my only power tool at the moment.

 

Mine have 10k miles on them and driver side is already doing this like in the youtube vid. Time to order up new bushings =(

 

Ok, about to tackle this. One question...........on above instructions, it shows you used 4 washers total per side. One on the inner and outer of each bushing. SPC's installation instructions say just to use them on the outside. What further confuses me, my spec ride bushing replacement kit came with 4 washers........

SPC Instructions:
Install the SPC control arm to the vehicle. note washer arrangement in the illustration – place one large washer on the bolt before insertion, and
the second large washer just before the nut - then torque to manufacturer’s specifications. noteS: 1) the stock ‘dished’ washers are not
re-used. 2) Unlike oe rubber bushings, SpecRide bushings pivot freely and can be torqued without applying vehicle weight.

Is this right?

 

Yes. I literally just did mine today. I applied the grease around the edges where those washers ride to ensure no squeaking.

 

Yes you followed SPC's washer instructions by using 2 per UCA or........

Yes you used 4 washers per UCA?

 

2 washers per UCA. One on the bolt head side, the other before the nut
