When people post their new trucks can they include their location? I ordered one here in NY three weeks ago and am assuming I am going to be waiting a minimum of another 4 weeks. Probably another 8 weeks. I want to see the progress as they go across the country.

@tcBob you should change the banner to his truck for being the first 3rd gen owner :D or at least make his name red.

It's now the site banner. Just waiting on a 3rd gen build since we usually have a build as the site banner...

Posted otherwise -- test drove a gun metal gray Limited today. Engine sufficient. Interior nice. I'm not a DCSB fan. But I *liked* the feel of the drive, the handling, how quiet things were.

Toyota of Santa Cruz. They received two -- an SR5 and the Limited I test drove. The SR5 was an order for someone and is gone.

Did the engine feel responsive even with just a little throttle input? Was it slow off the line until you got up into the rpms? Those have been complaints by others today.

It has been months since I test drove the 2015 Tacoma TRD OR. I've put a lot of miles on my Jetta Sportwagen TDI lately. Compared to my 4 cylinder turbodiesel, it didn't have that obvious "power curve" when floored. That said, it got up to speed getting onto the highway fine.

Traffic was pretty messed up around town today, so I didn't get to exercise the throttle to my liking. For getting onto a highway on a short merge and dealing w/ my driving, it was sufficient.

The slow off the line wasn't in my list of concerns -- wife finding it comfortable, noise, space, feel of the cab, fit were top of the list. I'll say, I'm only 5'9 and upright in the driver's seat, I was fine, but if I were taller, might be cramped.

I'm not a racer, I just meant pulling out into traffic and having to get up to speed quickly. I appreciate the info.

Remember that a moon roof in any vehicle subtracts 2 to 3 inches on the roof. If people are concerned, either test drive one first or don't get a moon roof. I test drove 2015s and I had no issue with space and I'm 6' 1". I have a deposit down on a 2016 but it is refundable if I don't like it upon test drive. If I don't like what I feel, I'm buying a 2015 or something else.

The manual will always be better for putting control into the drivers hands, my biggest concern was after driving a sports car for 3 years, what will it feel like shifting a truck. They can't possibly make it feel like a sports car so I am sure I would be disappointed. Hence, I ordered the slush box rather than deal with long pedal throws or long shifting throws.

It appears to have a relatively short throw for trucks. Somebody from toyota (iirc) claimed it would have short throws as well. I'm DD'ing a 6spd sports coupe right now with a short throw shifter so it'll be an adjustment but I drive my parents manual Jeep JK (which has a ~12" stick with long throws) when I'm home and I don't mind it at all. It's different but still great. I think the Tacoma is going to be right in the middle, a mid-throw if you will. I want to test drive one.

You are correct, this had a moonroof.

Honestly, while camping in my Jetta, the panoramic moonroof was awesome. But the car gets expensive and isn't capable of going where I want to now that I have more time :)

I agree, I have a moon roof in my SI and I love it, it hurt a little bit not getting one in my new truck but I couldn't justify the additional price.
